>Hmm. Even libertarians see the need for roads. That's not big government.

Our roads here are indeed big government - they are paid for, constructed by, maintained by and administered by big government. But Tea Partyers still use them.

Tea Partyers probably pay most of the taxes

>Only the ones that have an entitlement mentality.

Yep. We see a lot of right wingers here with that mentality.

Red state residents pay fewer taxes than blue state residents
By Reid Wilson March 18, 2014

The average American family pays nearly $7,000 in state and local taxes in a given year, but the actual amounts vary wildly. A Californian who lives on the western side of Lake Tahoe pays almost three times more in state taxes than their neighbor on the Nevada side of the lake. Someone living in Portland, Ore., pays more than twice as much as a neighbor living across the Columbia River in Vancouver, Wash.

That’s according to a new study by WalletHub, a publication of Evolution Finance, which found residents in blue states pay much more than residents of red states. The company used a typical American family making a median income and living in a median home to weigh average relative tax bills.

But don't worry. I will continue to pay your taxes for you so you can complain about how heavily you're taxed.

So does that mean I can stop paying and you will foot the bill now?

I don't know where you live, so I don't know how the above applies to you.

(However, if you want to give the "stop paying" thing a try, why not? What's the worst that can happen?)

You aren't paying it. You are allowing the government to take it. Please don't act all magnanimous. If that's OK with you then fine. It's not OK with many people.
Please don't dent the planet.

Agreed. I was just responding to Rush's statement that the Tea Partyers are paying most of the taxes. Which (assuming tea partyers are more prevalent in red states) just ain't true.

it has nothing to do with the state, or which state. It has something to do with those who work and pay taxes to begin with. Probably the majority of those are tea partiers

Tea partiers are, in general, people who want government small enough so that they don't have to pay taxes, but big enough to give them everything they feel they are entitled to.

so you admit, now, that tea partiers are exactly like everybody else and they aren't a special form of pure evil

(but which tea partiers are you talking about?

- the original ones that were essentially social progressives and fiscal conservatives?
- or the current caricature of the far religious right that doesn't resemble the original intent at all (because on the right the religious nutters tried to absorb them, and on the left who mischaracterized them as religious nutters - because both were afraid of the movement) funny how the extremists on both sides worked together to derail something that threatened their status quo)

Does it matter who the Tea Party was originally funded by and still is as not a grassroots movement with no roots as Astroturf has no roots, but a way to get rid of onerous regulations to billionaires who wish to have their Company Logos tattooed for their corporate sponsorship on peoples foreheads with no government what so ever.
