Disproving the accepted wisdom gets you awards and a place in the history books. Accepted wisdom gets a person a career. Fall in line and hats how careers are maintained. Go with the commonly accepted wisdom and be proficient with it and you'll rise. Think differently and you'll be on your own. Larry Bell said it best with respect to the Bell X-1. He said that the glory goes to those who do it first. But the money goes to those who do it later. It takes someone to shift the paradigm. The reward may come much later.
