turtlespeed 226 #26 May 9, 2015 jakee ***They did better than the BNP... Which is great news. Isnt that subjective? Yeah, in the same way that 'it's good that the Nazis lost WW2' is subjectiveHoly FUCK, you just Godwin'd a thread about UK elections. WOW! Well done, sir. The BNP are Neo-Nazis. I don't think comparing fascists to other fascists qualifies for Godwinning, since it really is the most direct comparison. Careful, you are getting very close to religious fervor. Godwinning? Is God going to win?I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun

yoink 321 #28 May 9, 2015 kallendInteresting perspective: What Republicans Can Learn From British Conservatives That article misses the biggest difference IMO. Certainly in the UK, and I think in Australia and Canada, people don't define themselves by which political party they vote for. It's never really a conversation which comes up apart from at election time. At no point in living in the UK did I ever meet anyone who would proudly proclaim that they're a Conservative or Labour-ite (Labourian?) in a personal setting. My time in the US is the opposite experience. Many personal conversations split down obviously political lines. I honestly couldn't tell you who most of my UK friends would vote for. I could do it for 90% of my US friends.
Stumpy 284 #29 May 10, 2015 That's an interesting article. The things itctalks about that make the uk and Aussie conservative governments different would get them labeled as screaming left wing liberals by the GOP faithful.Never try to eat more than you can lift
