And the last Republican President liked to take walks holding hands with the Saudi King. The law signed has a basis in reality. The same reality that then made a pizza store owner make claims about now not having to supply pizzas to a gay wedding if requested. wmw999 2,584 #55 April 2, 2015 Are there more customers in Tehran than in Indiana? As far as supporting nuclear proliferation is concerned: Iran has a nuclear program; that's undisputed. Is the rest of the world better off letting it continue (as it has all along), or trying to engage so that tha there's insight into it? The old adage of "keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer" comes to mind. No, Iran doesn't have our best interests as its top priority. But then we don't have their best interests as ours, either. Wendy P.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. Since when does the pizza guy stand up during the ceremony? I thought he just brought the pizzas in, hit on a couple bridesmaids, took his money and left. I was a pizza guy when I was younger. I wasn't aware "approval" of where I was taking the pizzas was necessary. And one more time (still waiting for an answer on this one): How come they get to pick and choose which "sins" are "bad enough" to discriminate against? If homosexuality is "bad enough" that they won't serve them, how about adultery? They seem perfectly content to give that one a pass, despite it being one of those "commandment" thingies."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." No, the difference is that they want to pick and chose which supposed sin they have a problem with and which ones they don't. I could have some level of respect if they refused to provide pizzas to weddings of any who are afoul of the bible in any way.

Amazon 7 #61 April 2, 2015 RonD1120There is a major difference between retail service and being forced to participate in a ceremony that violates Christian belief. Is it really a "Christian" belief or a closely held ancient Jewish Levitican tenant and only spoken of by a "Christian" who was also a former Jewish Pharisee and well versed in the Jewish version of Sharia Law? There are posters on this very forum that are leftward leaning that are so full of pure unadulterated hate that someone of my belief system has to wonder where it comes from. Some on the right leave me shaking my head but in terms of those who cannot even write "conservative" or "republican" without deliberately misspelling the words to include an insult, I see hate. I am always bemused that those who call for tolerance will hate those and will not tolerate those who disagree. I picture this exchange: "Hey! This pizza joint is run by people who are intolerant of gays. They are hateful people. What should be do?" "Let's hate them!" "Why?" "Because they are so intolerant!" Again, it's divisiveness. Let us not actually interact with the pizza place owners. Let's hate them and widen the divide. Personal note: i have a big problem with people who won't serve gays. But I also have a big problem with making people serve gays. This pizza place will hopefully be run out of business. But just because people will stay away. I do not proclaim tolerance and do not proclaim that people should be tolerant. Intolerance and bigotry makes bad business sense. My wife is hotter than your wife. Intolerance and bigotry makes bad business sense. What about when it doesn't? It wasn't that long ago that half the small towns in the country would have segregation in every retail and service establishment. They didn't change through consumer pressure, they were forced to change by law and that was the only way it was going to happen. Luckily it's not so widespread these days for non-heterosexuals but I'm sure there are still quite a few places where bigotry in business is welcomed by more prospective customers than not. wmw999 2,584 #73 April 2, 2015 That's a good, thoughtful article. But too many of us seem to want to bend others to our will, instead of simply "being the change we want to see." I'm no Gandhi (um, yeah), but that's always struck me as the best way not to get pissed off. It used to kind of irk me when people would offhandedly say things about libs being stupid, and everyone snickeringly agreeing with each other. But there's not a lot of dignity in letting people know they got under your skin. One advantage of dz.com is that the format allows one to actually choose what to respond to, and to take time to actually think about the response. Sounds like a winner to me Wendy P. RonD1120 62 #74 April 2, 2015 First of all, the lady who owned, I think owned, the pizza establishment was asked if you would cater a gay wedding. That means participating in the ceremony. Second, those who commit adultery do not advertise their adultery. Well, so far as I know they don't.
