normiss 905 #27 March 24, 2015 IMO, Libertarian votes are a wasted vote. Electoral college has how many Libertarians? What percentage of Electoral votes would a Libertarian need to actually win an election?

DanG 1 #31 March 24, 2015 I've asked before, and don't think you ever answered. QuoteDon't forget, I'm a Libertarian. ETA: Disregard the question. I just Googled it. That is why the Republican Party sucks. I disavowed affiliation with them years ago. Have you ever voted for a Libertarian candidate? Have you ever voted for a candidate that wasn't a Republican? - Dan G
wmw999 2,600 #32 March 24, 2015 Ted Cruz is very, very, smart. He's capable of insight, but his innate politics are reactionary -- i.e. he has a natural reaction, and he goes with it. He can change that, but seems to prefer instead to find people he aligns with naturally. At many levels of politics, this is fine. But the more you're elected to represent a cross-section of people (as is the case even in the Senate), the less that's a good attribute. Because, even though I'm quite opposed to many of the views he espouses, he still is supposed to represent me. And he makes it quite clear that he doesn't think opinions that vary from his are worth listening to. That's a problem. And a bigger one as President than it is even in a Senator. Wendy P.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. RonD1120 62 #34 March 24, 2015 No Every presidential election I have cast my vote for a Republican. I don't want to throw away my vote to benefit the Democrats. If Ted Cruz runs as a Tea Party Libertarian I think, at least right now, I would vote for him knowing it would be a wasted vote. I am not very optimistic regarding the U.S. as it is.Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them. DanG 1 #36 March 24, 2015 The claim, "I'm a Libertarian and separated myself from the Republicans many years ago," carries little weight if you always vote Republican. - Dan G

mpohl 1 #38 March 24, 2015 The Irony!!!! Ted Cruz going on Obamacare The newly announced Republican presidential candidate told CNN's Dana Bash on Tuesday that he will sign up for health care coverage through the Affordable Care Act -- a law he has been on a crusade to kill. "We'll be getting new health insurance and we'll presumably do it through my job with the Senate, and so we'll be on the federal exchange with millions of others on the federal exchange," Cruz said. Asked whether he would accept the government subsidy available to lawmakers and congressional staffers for their health care coverage through the ACA, Cruz said he will "follow the text of the law." You have to vote for one of us. Man 1: He's right, this is a two-party system. Man 2: Well I believe I'll vote for a third-party candidate. Kang: Go ahead, throw your vote away. Your explanation has become clear. You aren't a Republican, but you almost always vote Republican. I can understand that. I'm not a Democrat, but I've voted Democrat recently because I've been less happy with my other options. I'll likely be voting Libertarian more in the future if they get their act together. - Dan G

DanG 1 #50 March 25, 2015 QuoteGo ahead, throw your vote away. I disagree with the notion that a third party vote is a wasted vote. Sure, in the current climate, a third party candidate is unlikely to win. On the other hand, the more votes third parties get, the more attention to the third party issues get from the main parties. Anyway, where I live, a vote for anyone but the Republican is usually a "wasted" vote. - Dan G
