To be fair, part of the problem is that everyone's trying to go to college, and of course they want to go to certain ones. This comes from the ridiculous belief that you must have a degree to succeed (perpetuated no doubt in part by those who benefit from other people going to college). Thus, the cycle continues of tens, nay hundreds of thousands of young adults putting themselves tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt for a degree they're unlikely to benefit from more than they would have from a cheap local college if they insist on going in the first place. Granted, there's probably a lot of career delusion in play as well. "i'm going to change the world and I need to be prepared!" Fast forward 6 years and that person is $70k in debt with a useless sociology degree and working at Barnes and Noble.cavete terrae.
Anvilbrother 0 #3 March 19, 2015 Yep that's why I like how Dave Ramsey pushes people sometimes in the direction of vocation school or other options besides huge college debt. He says for a lot of fields today proof you can do the work is better than a 50k piece of paper that every other person has. Postes r made from an iPad or iPhone.
