normiss 905 #26 March 5, 2015 There are a number of cases like this in process here. The latest was a warrant served and when the guy answered the door he was swiftly shot in the face for "approaching officers". I think they knocked first. I don't know about the rest of you, but a lot of people tend to approach the door when someone knocks. I'm sure he didn't expect a kick down and a murder. jakee 1,610 #27 March 5, 2015 skycop Quote They found serious problems in the Ferguson PD. Some very blatant racism, including in departmental e-mails. Seriously high percentages of stops, arrests, citations and convictions of black people. Way out of line with the population. And to be honest, neither of those findings surprised me much. A bunch of lawyers who want to climb the corporate ladder, politically appointed, from Washington DC descend on a town. And you don't think they are going to find SOMETHING to justify their existence. They came blazing looking for criminal charges, they could not justify those, so they give this. Not surprising. You're saying that people whose job it is to find criminal behaviour will dishonestly inflate small infractions into larger charges if they didn't find what they wanted? SkyCop, meet the police.Do you want to have an ideagasm?
jakee 1,610 #28 March 5, 2015 skycopNo, You and Grue assume every cop thinks everyone in the public is a threat. No, we've had police officers explain to us (with strong conviction) that every police officer views every member of the public as a threat.Do you want to have an ideagasm? kallend 2,175 #30 March 5, 2015 rushmc****** When a cop makes a bad move it is reported as if it happens everyday Statistically speaking, it probably does. If true, the news would be similar day to day Ye-e-e-e-es! And your point is?... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. Well, see, they are the sheepdogs, and they have to always be on guard for wolves. Better to shoot a few extra sheep than sit back and let a wolf decimate the flock. After all, they're just sheep. skycop 0 #33 March 5, 2015 I never said dishonestly, I said politically motivated/influenced. If you dig deep enough, you can always find something. It's as true in police work as it is Quality Assurance for other occupations. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
jakee 1,610 #34 March 5, 2015 QuoteI never said dishonestly, I said politically motivated/influenced. If you're saying the investigation was honest then the motivation doesn't matter. Then, saying you're 'not surprised' that they found that the Ferguson PD had serious problems with blatant racism simply means that you are not surprised that the Ferguson PD has serious problems with blatant racism. QED. The point however is that you, as a cop, mistrust the people who have the power to investigate you because of an occasional bias you perceive in the way they operate. Now think about how normal people look at cops and why they might be interested in the times that cops fuck up or operate unethically.Do you want to have an ideagasm? skycop 0 #35 March 5, 2015 QuoteNow think about how normal people look at cops and why they might be interested in the times that cops fuck up or operate unethically I never said they shouldn't be, you've completely missed my point. As far as politically motivated investigations, I merely accept the political aspect, it comes with willingly putting on the funny outfit. Quote Then, saying you're 'not surprised' that they found that the Ferguson PD had serious problems with blatant racism simply means that you are not surprised that the Ferguson PD has serious problems with blatant racism. QED. Merely semantics, I'm not surprised they made a conclusion, because that's what they do. What those conclusions are remain to be seen. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!" lawrocket 3 #36 March 5, 2015 skycopNo, You and Grue assume every cop thinks everyone in the public is a threat. It's been stated quite frequently on here and elsewhere that if you have any interaction with a cop to keep your hands visible and obey all commands at all times because police have no idea what kind of person you are and in the name of self preservation will treat everyone as a potential threat. And if a citizen has been stopped illegally, or has the audacity to film an officer, or has the balls to affirmatively asset his or her rights then that person is asking for trouble. And trust me. This is what is perceived by the public. Again, I understand why the police have to protect themselves. I also understand why the public has fear. My wife is hotter than your wife.
