quade 4 #2 January 23, 2015 Well, THIS will be interesting. He was simply a dictator. I think he can also be blamed for quite a bit of the unrest in the Middle-East. Much of what we think of as our problem is simply a side-show to what's really the struggle over who controls what in Saudi Arabia and he was absolutely at the center of it. Let me put it in no uncertain terms; FUCK that guy.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
ryoder 1,590 #3 January 23, 2015 The way ex-CIA agent Robert Baer explained it in his books: The Royal Family and the Wahhabi need each other; The Royals grant the Wahhabi free reign to enforce their crackpot ideals on the population and keep them in line, enabling the Royal Family to stay in power. Without the support of the Wahhabi, the Royal Family would be deposed. Without the support of the Royal Family, the Wahhabi would have no power."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. What is largely misunderstood is that part of Royal/Islamic belief (think of it as the 1%) is largely at odds with the 99%. A large portion of what we call Al-Qaeda is in direct opposition to it. In fact, the Al-Qaeda in Yemen group (the one that took credit for the Charlie Hebdo attack) didn't come from Yemen, they came from Saudi Arabia. The reason they hate US? We prop up the Royalty. This same royalty(government/1%)/religion + US support applies to a few other countries in the Middle-East as well. Oh . . . Fuck, Dubai too. Weirdly, I feel like I have deja vu and was just talking about this somewhere else recently.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

quade 4 #7 January 23, 2015 Yep. Yet this will go largely under-reported. Through laziness by some, and by conscious decision not to tarnish "relations" by others so as to keep the flow going. I think if the general public understood the issue just a little bit more, than simply "Muslim bad" we'd have a slightly different world. If we (as a general populace) understood why they (the terrorists) really hated us, it would be a mind blowing revelation. But hey, as long as the price of gas is good, it's all good; right?quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
stayhigh 2 #8 January 23, 2015 Is this gonna effect the gas price now? I wouldn't be surprised. To mourn our king's death, we have decided to lower our oil production. "Go Frack yourself USA."Bernie Sanders for President 2016
