billvon 3,132 #1 January 19, 2015 In a rare show of conscience, FOX has apologized for their anti-Islamic claims. Good for them, and let's hope this is the beginning of a change in the FOX News team from political tool to news reporting organization. From Mediaite: =============================== Fox Formally Apologizes for Claiming Muslims Have Taken Over European Cities by Tina Nguyen 12:04 am, January 18th, 2015 Videos 2665 This evening, Fox News formally apologized for a false claim about Muslims that was so egregious, even the Prime Minister of Great Britain and all of French television had to step in and call them out for it. “Over the course of this last week we have made some regrettable errors on air regarding the Muslim population in Europe – particularly with regard to England and France,” anchor Julie Banderas said during tonight’s newscast. “This applies especially to discussions of so-called ‘No Go Zones’ areas where non-Muslims allegedly aren’t allowed in and police supposedly won’t go.” To recap: once upon a time last week, Fox’s terrorism commentator Steve Emerson claimed that there were certain neighborhoods and towns completely overrun with a Muslim population so fierce that even police wouldn’t enter them: according to him, there are “actually Muslim religious police that actually beat and actually wound seriously anyone who doesn’t dress according to religious Muslim attire.” ================================
jclalor 12 #2 January 19, 2015 The only reason they apologized was not to piss off GB. I'm watching Jindal in London right now, he's making the same claim about the "no-go" zones on CNN, it's very funny. http://youtu.be/dABSw4FgvpM

Had he simply said that "parts" of Birmingham are Muslim, he would have been correct. Despite such politically correct denials, Muslim no-go zones are a well-known fact of life in many parts of Europe. If not I don't see how taking him at his word to be a fault for FOX. Once they found out they corrected and apologized. If CNN had a financial guy that was a respectable straight shooter, but spoke past his knowledge and got something horribly wrong I would not blame the entirety of CNN's credibility on a correspondent. Especially if they came back and changed it. He was their on staff terrorism expert, unless he was known as a nut in the past I wouldn't see anyone checking the story of your top guy all the time beforehand. jakee 1,610 #23 January 23, 2015 rushmc Sure The person said the whole town Which was incorrect But saying there are no such places is incorrect to according to many sites and organizations The whole city. A city of 1M people within the boundary of Birmingham itself, well over 2M in the metropolitan area. All Muslims. It's so absurd it doesn't even make sense as intentional misinformation. And as for your other sites, they all distort and twist the criteria. They say there are places 'the police won't go' and support it with a link that says there are places where some crimes aren't reported to the police. Totally different thing. The sites say there are places where sharia law has taken over and support it with a few random instances of Muslims shouting at non-Muslims. There's no pattern demonstrated. There's no attempt to show the continuous presence if these people. Just throw out a few instances of street crime and let the reader's paranoia do the rest. If it were true then every council estate in the UK would be 'controlled' by some criminal element, be it white, black or Muslim. Your 'proper perspective' is just the desire to defend any conservative against any liberal, no matter what.Do you want to have an ideagasm?

QuoteIf CNN had a financial guy that was a respectable straight shooter, but spoke past his knowledge and got something horribly wrong I would not blame the entirety of CNN's credibility on a correspondent. Fox don't employ Emerson because he's a straight shooter, they employ him because he's rabidly anti Islamic terror organisations (before it became fashionable, to his credit) and it fits their narrative perfectly.
