Rick 67 #2 January 8, 2015 "NAACP chapter president Henry Allen Jr. was “hesitant” on Tuesday to call the bomb a hate crime" from Wikipedia "hate crime (also known as bias-motivated crime) is a usually violent, prejudice motivated crime that occurs when a perpetrator targets a victim because of his or her perceived membership in a certain social group." whether this was done by a lone wack-a-nut or an organized group I would think it fits the definitionYou can't be drunk all day if you don't start early! CanuckInUSA 0 #3 January 8, 2015 I lived in Colorado Springs from 1998 through to the summer of 2000. It was a very picturesque small to medium sized city and I met some really nice people. It saddened me to hear a few years ago when a fire sweep through the Mountain Shadows district (the part of the city I lived in) and destroyed the homes of many people. Yes the Springs is full of Christians, I've never been around so many people who were obsessed with God and the Devil. But for the most part they let the Agnostic me be me in their beautiful city and never bothered me. What are the odds that his arson attack was made by a religious person? Hard to say for sure, but the odds are higher than let say in Boulder CO where I lived from 2000 to 2004. Anyway the main newspaper in Colorado Springs is the Gazette. I thought I should view their website this morning to see if what Kallend claims is true that the media is avoiding this story. You judge for yourself: http://gazette.com/ Of course this newspaper's website is dynamic so if someone does not access it within the next few hours, the news is bound to change. But right now this arson attack is right at the top of the Colorado Spring's Gazette website under the "News: Crime & Justice" section. I am pretty sure the good people of Colorado Springs are aware of this arson attack. Hey what's going on over at the Denver Post. As someone who lived in both Colorado Springs and the metro Denver area, I know the Denver Post often ignores Colorado Springs. But let's see. http://www.denverpost.com/ Oh ... too funny ... this arson attack is the lead story at the Denver Post. Kallend is upset that this local arson attack does not take precedence with the national news on the same day that 12 people were murdered by Islamist Terrorists in Paris France? Troll ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
lawrocket 3 #4 January 8, 2015 Once bitten twice shy. Little is known about this. It could be white racists sending a message. It could be some juvenile prank. It could also be some member of the NAACP set this thing up. Far too many times have hate crimes been perpetrated, only to end up as a set up whereupon the victim was the perpetrator looking for attention. Once that is ruled out on the basis of evidence (that whole logic and reason thing), then I'll take it more seriously. Having been victimized by a hate crime before Christmas, I tend to look at these things with a different eye. (Yes, someone threw a rock through the car window. Found out yesterday it was happening in town to others similarly situated. I feel that it's a hate crime because I hated it.) My wife is hotter than your wife.
