Alaskan political blogger Amanda Coyne said she was able to piece together a version of events from sources who witnessed the out-of-control brawl.

“There’s some sort of unofficial birthday/Iron Dog-type/snowmachine party in Anchorage. A nice, mellow party, until the Palins show up,” Coyne wrote. “There’s beer, of course, and maybe other things. Which is all fine, but just about the time when some people might have had one too many, a Track Palin stumbles out of a stretch Hummer, and immediately spots an ex-boyfriend of Willow’s. We were in Wasilla during the time Palin was mayor at the Alaska boogie. One night we couldn't take the mosquitoes any more and got a hotel room the next day. One thing led to another and pretty soon we had 8 people staying in it.

When I got the room at noon the manager said "OK, great, there's a wedding party in the bar but they should be gone by 5 pm, so it will be open again."

We jumped all day and got back around 8pm. The wedding party was still going on. We went up to the room, had a beer and were figuring out who would sleep where when the wedding broke out into the parking lot. The best man was staggering around, swinging at anyone who got close. The bride was chasing after him, hitting him with her shoe. The best man's parents showed up and the father and son started wrestling, with his mother saying "you can't drink! I told you you can't drink! You'll end up like your brother!"

Meanwhile the groom was being held up by some of his friends and he kept trying to get away from them to "help out" but every time he got free he'd fall down.

Two police cars showed up (the entire Wasilla police force, I think) and stood around watching, not really wanting to get involved.

It went on for about two hours; better than any reality show I've ever seen.

Maybe it's just a regional thing.
