quade 4 #1 September 11, 2014 I just did a scan of Bonfire and SC, as far as I can tell, this is the first thread about 9/11. I've also looked over my Facebook and G+. I think I saw one or two minor mentions. I'm sort of okay with that too because I think, while we should never forget, it sure would be nice to not have to have it be the very first thing we wake up to every year on this date and have it hammered back into our heads. Because of 9/11, the terrorists messed with our heads for a very long time. New terrorists are on the horizon and there will probably always be horrors in the world. That said, I am glad we seem to be recovering from the sheer terror of that day a bit.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
normiss 898 #2 September 11, 2014 I appreciated that about today as well. I am angry at myself for not lowering our flag at home this morning. I simply forgot, but fully intended to! I do see more 9/11 posts on FuB than TBT posts though. I agree with never forget, just not to the point of a gut punch every year.
BillyVance 35 #3 September 11, 2014 There is just no way for me personally to forget. The image of the plane crashing into the second tower live on TV is forever burned into my memory. I didn't get much, if any, work done that day."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
normiss 898 #4 September 11, 2014 I did no work that day. I did get a critical page/call out for a down branch at the moment the first tower collapsed. I was working for Charles Schwab at the time and was the only network engineer on-call on the east coast that day. Lost the entire branch office. :( I had just finished my morning flirt with the big guy's admin. Cute little Italian thing Angela is! I don't think we did anything for a few weeks actually. until the layoffs started ....
D22369 0 #5 September 11, 2014 I walked into my corner mini mart to get my morning coffee on the way to work - the family that owned it were all standing there watching that morning. not sure how long I watched just as stunned as they were once the 2nd hit. I was very late to work. I wont ever forget that sickening feeling Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
seedy 0 #6 September 11, 2014 I was getting ready for work and when I came downstairs my daughter had the TV on and told me they had hit the first tower. I watched as the plane went into the second and then the collapse. I never made it to work. I intend to live forever -- so far, so good.
Amazon 7 #7 September 11, 2014 I was on vacation at the mouth of the Columbia River... salmon fishing. We were staying in the motorhome in Ilwaco WA and going over to Hammond OR every morning at first light. I was running a bit late that morning because the tide was just not right so I was on the Astoria Bridge, headed south and listening to the radio about a plane that had hit the World Trade Center, Later when the second plane hit I knew at that moment and commented to the people with me.. that we were going to war. RonD1120 62 #8 September 12, 2014 On that day I learned everything I needed to know about Islam. Look, the average run of the mill Muslim isn't a bad person. It's the radicalized elements that get all the media attention and cause all the bullshit. That said, the ones I've seen around my area seem to keep to themselves respectfully."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban

baronn 111 #11 September 12, 2014 Was the most horrific event I ever saw. I'm sure we all were sickened by what occurred that tragic day. What has been even more disturbing (and Frightening!) has been finding out who and the why it actually happened. The most shocking part for me, was witnessing the buildings coming straight down in their own footprint. Simply defying physics. And if anyone can show why building 7 fell down, I'm all ears...

kallend 2,150 #13 September 12, 2014 baronn Simply defying physics. I've yet to hear a single bona-fide physicist make this claim. And I know a lot of them.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
kallend 2,150 #14 September 12, 2014 RonD1120On that day I learned everything I needed to know about Islam. Yep. A small % of Muslims are dangerous kooks, just like a small % of Hindus, Christians and Jews.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. JerryBaumchen 1,468 #15 September 12, 2014 Hi baronn, QuoteSimply defying physics. Uh, no. As I recall the building designer was teaching in New Mexico at the time & was trying to get through to anyone in New York to tell them that the buildings would be coming down after taking hits like those. I have this idea that he knew something that a lot of people did not. JerryBaumchen
