lawrocket 3 #1 August 30, 2014 In order to control climate change, countries in the European Union agreed to increase their dependence on renewable energy. Solar, wind, etc., are a good idea. But a forest is also a renewable resource. Apparently, wood pellet power production is all the rage now. But there is not enough forest in Europe to supply wood for power. Enter the American south. http://grist.org/climate-energy/europe-is-burning-our-forests-for-renewable-energy-wait-what/ How does Europe lessen its dependence on fossil fuels? By getting to the fuels before they can become fossils. (Note: this is a lifeline to American logging. Those forests have been used for decades as our paper supply. Over the last couple of decades paper use has plummeted.) Cut down a forest, eliminate a carbon sink, heat dry the pellets and then ship them overseas. This is what sound environmental policy looks like? Call Captain Planet... My wife is hotter than your wife.

jgoose71 0 #3 August 30, 2014 This sounds like a great opportunity to start logging rain forests in lawless countries!!!! No unintended consequences here...
