Anvilbrother 0 #1 June 27, 2014 Obama is requesting $500 Million! to send weapons to Syria...also is asking for $4 billion to go to the Pentagon and $1 billion to the State Department for other counterterrorism operations, including training and equipping partner countries. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/06/27/world/middleeast/obama-seeks-500-million-to-train-and-equip-syrian-opposition.html Looks like Obama loves to support the military industrial complex also....I figured being a Dem he would try to take away all the guns, and the gun deaths would stop right? StreetScooby 5 #5 June 27, 2014 Quote Obama is requesting $500 Million! to send weapons to Syria While I agree fully with you, $500MM is nothing. The Saudis are funding ISIS big time, and this is nothing. Full blown Sunni/Shia blow up happening right now. And the Saudis are all in for the Sunnis. Putting their money where their mouth is. Anvilbrother 0 #6 June 28, 2014 Quote Why do you see such well equipped soldiers in those pictures coming out? Because that all our shit we left for the ISF to defend themselves with they got! Along with the $400 million and other funding from countries they are sitting pretty good especially only having to maintain ground troops, and not air and water assets. Why do you see such well equipped soldiers in those pictures coming out? This whole situation is making for some strange bedfellows based on a fractious religious reality that is the middle east.. Iran and Iraqis snuggling up with each other but understandable since the Shia and Sunnis have been killing each other for well over 100 years. The whole thing is just a realignment of the 100 year old Balfour and a bunch of other idiots who did not give a rats ass about all of the tribal, ethnic and religious differences when they arbitrarily drew a bunch of lines on a map. The strangest snuggling is the Turks climbing into the hot tub with the Kurdish Peshmurga.... Kurdistan... is just about a fait accompli and there is no turning that clock back. I am wondering if for the sake of peace the Iranians and Turks give up some of the land in their countries where Kurds are a majority.
StreetScooby 5 #8 June 28, 2014 Quote Because that all our shit we left for the ISF to defend themselves with they got! Yep, and now that, too. The ISF guys that left their posts were Sunnis who were sick of the Shiite guy in charge. Quote they are sitting pretty good especially only having to maintain ground troops, and not air and water assets. We have denied air power to the Shiites currently running Iraq. StreetScooby 5 #9 June 28, 2014 Quote Iran and Iraqis snuggling up with each other but understandable There really isn't an Iraq. There's a long standing collection of Sunnis, Shiites, and Kurds. Quote since the Shia and Sunnis have been killing each other for well over 100 years. They've been doing that for much, much longer. Try 100s of years... Anvilbrother 0 #10 June 28, 2014 I say leave cut ties and all funding to that whole region. The only thing that will solve that place is to nuke it all into a glass parking lot. I'm serious about the extent of what it would take, but not about actually doing it right now. I don't see any amount of money, peacekeeping, or war that would fix that region.
