rushmc 23 #1 June 10, 2014 THIS one is going to leave a mark! QuoteIn a poll about a whole lot of things (religion, immigration, Obama) the Brookings Institution also surveyed 1538 adults about the news networks. When asked "which of the following news sources do you trust the most to provide accurate information about politics and current events?," Fox News beat everyone with 25%. MSNBC landed dead last with a humiliating 5%. CNN came in well behind Fox with 17%. "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" came in second to last with 8% http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2014/06/10/poll-fox-news-most-trusted-msnbc-least Being fair and balanced has its advantages This poll also indicates that the people like info and would just as soon make up their own minds"America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." rehmwa 2 #4 June 10, 2014 SkyDekkerTo me this poll says more about Americans than it does Fox News. YMMV nonsense to both of you - it's about the right split matching the public's watching. It's more a statement that the market for left leaning watchers is bigger and thus that share of the pie is split up amongst more networks. when you have 1 right leaning network vying for 50% of the market, and 12 left leaning networks vying for the other 50% of the market, don't be surprised when 25% is the biggest share...... hell, since the share isn't the full 50%, is more a statement that most people don't really have a preference and just watch the news with the anchors with the biggest tits. I question the basis of the entire effort when the poll includes an entertainment show (Daily Show) in the list. That's ignorance at best. Fluff poll. ... quade 4 #7 June 10, 2014 SkyDekkerTo me this poll says more about Americans than it does Fox News. To me it says more about the lack of validity in polling and the ability to manipulate them than anything. An organization can pay to have a poll taken of the population that will return any result you'd like. That doesn't mean the poll is valid and it especially doesn't mean the reporting about it is valid. Just for kicks, how many people here actually READ the poll being cited in this?quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

The landline and cell phone samples were provided by Survey Sampling International and the final sample was weighted to ensure proper representativeness. For instance the question 8.a Quotea. Allowing gay and lesbian couples to marry legally 2014 2013 29 25 Strongly favor 26 27 Favor 17 19 Oppose 22 23 Strongly oppose 06 07 Don’t know/Refused (VOL.) If they were serious about skewing the result I doubt they'd show a majority support for something like gay marriage. I think the explanation is what was already said before, 50% of the population has 1 choice where as the other 50% has about dozen choices. If you compare the numbers: 23 Broadcast network news, such as NBC, ABC or CBS 17 CNN 25 Fox News 05 MSNBC 08 Comedy Central’s Daily Show with Jon Stewart its 53% liberal vs. 25% right wing.Your rights end where my feelings begin. Why do you get so bent about Fox, CNN seems like shit at times, I try to watch both but I don't wake up every morning with a CNN hard on. In the end do some research, turn off Fox, CNN and certainly MSNBC..... OR watch them all for a blend but watching one is just dumb. kelpdiver 2 #25 June 11, 2014 DanGTaking the poll at face value, I'd like to point out that "most trusted" is in no way related to "best". I suspect that if you had instead asked the subjects: Which news station do you watch the most, you'd get very similar results. Why would you spend more time watching something you don't trust (other than those who enjoy the Daily Show)? So really all we see here is a viewership poll, and we already knew that Fox has the largest market share thanks to a programming style choice.
