The draft regulation sidesteps Congress, where Obama's Democratic allies have failed to pass a so-called "cap-and-trade" plan to limit such emissions. The EPA plan will go into effect in June 2016, following a one-year comment period. States will then be responsible for executing the rule with some flexibility.

The fear and loathing continues as the King of America once again legislates from the oval office.

Good! Finally, an adult in the room is actually dealing with our problems instead of ignoring them, denying them and blaming other people for them. (Often all at the same time.)

Bill, I know you believe this to be a good idea - perhaps in itself it is but don't you worry just a little for when the next BUSH gets elected?? It will happen. For now this seems ok, but what about when the next guy on the otherside goes around Congress and gets done what HE wants. What if it's something you really hate?

Checks and balances work both ways. I don't believe we want to get ride of it.

No adult action here Bill
This is a child throwing a temper tantrum to try and get his way
The adults will handle this in the end
but I see you support activities around congress
You have now given up your right to bitch when the other side tries this same crap

Agreed. And in this case, Congress voted to pass the Clean Air Act and the US Supreme Court verified that it applies to CO2. All three branches worked together to get this passed.

Now, if Congress has changed its mind they are free to pass a new law changing how the Clean Air Act works.

Children make messes and don't want to clean them up. They blame their sister. They say they didn't do it. They say there is no mess. They say it's unfair because Johnny didn't have to clean up HIS mess.

Adults clean up their messes.

Via the Clean Air Act, the Supreme Court decision on it and the EPA's action - they are starting to do that (fortunately.)

Ah
the court said the EPA has the power
It did NOT say CO2 was a polutant
The EPA is running rouge like many over sized dept in the federal gov
These rules cost so much money and cure nothing so, congress will fix it by killing the implimentation of these rules at the very least
and THAT will be a good thing

No Adult Taxpayers are the ones who usually get to spend the big bucks to clean up all those superfund sites that the corporations made with their "we only drive profits from doing business and not clean up expenses " mentality. Extractive entities have usually been exceedingly profitable... and yet left behind exceedingly polluted sites in their wake when the people behind that corporation cut and run.

>the court said the EPA has the power . . .It did NOT say CO2 was a polutant

It said the EPA could regulate CO2 as a pollutant.

>These rules cost so much money and cure nothing so, congress will fix it by killing

They don't have time to do anything like that. They are far too busy repealing Obamacare for the 71st time.

In the meantime, states are trying to pre-empt this law by passing their own limits on CO2 emissions. Good for them; the more adults. the better.

So if it's a lie, give us a link to a source that tells us just how much CO2 your company DOES spew into the atmosphere each year. Then I'll quote that figure instead.

Executive Orders:

Ronald Reagan 381
George W. Bush 291
Barack Obama 168

Looks like the biggest legislators from the Oval Office in recent times have been your guys. Obama isn't even in the same league as Reagan.

Come on Bill, what happens under the same circumstances when a right wing president pushes something through w executive order and the Dems hold the house and the Rep hold the senate?

I understand that you support these actions so "you win" - this one. What happens when you lose the next one? To me this really isn't about Obama because the right will use this to.

Funny how we all, that have been posting here for some time, seem to have become more set in our positions.

we have solutions ready to go to help ease the coal industry/electric monopoly. But your Republican boys are doing everything they can to block it.

It's OK, stand there with your mouth gaping open while the whole world passes you. Those that say it cannot be done are just starting to annoy those of us that are already doing it.

Energy costs money. pollution also costs money. healthcare related to pollution costs money. everything costs money.
