Wasn't all that long ago the right was being hounded for fear mongering. Pot meet kettle.

I saw that the report was around 840 Pages? I guess that means no one in DC will actually read it....

Some people would ignore the facts all the way to extinction.

The rest of us can see the handwriting on the wall. Not that we're in immediate threat of becoming extinct over this, but a hell of a lot of the population of the planet is going to be pretty screwed over by it within the next century.

I didn't know any politicians COULD read...

They are good at reading anything that starts with "$".

Perhaps that should be one of the things you should vett before voting for one of them.

Dumb as dirt and proud of it is one of the things that is right at the top of my disqualifiers list for anyone seeking public office.

17 Years ago Clinton and Gore invited all the talking heads to the WH and told them that they should report more on this "global cooling".

When the newspaper (WP or NYT) reported on the meeting, they described the tv people as" mostly white and shorter then they appear onscreen." Apparently a bit of a rivalry back then ;)

History repeating itself only some of the names have been changed to protect the profiteers.

For these politico's it's all about the "Benjamin's". Nothing more, nothing less!

Now top those tanks with Jet A-1, and lets go to LA for a burger.

Regardless of the merits of AGW (or whatever its nom du jour), even if it was removed from the equation in toto immediately, the fact that "a hell of a lot of the population of the planet is going to be pretty screwed over by it within the next century" still stands.

AGW is a self-correcting issue in the grand scheme of things, and mankind has a hell of a lot more pressing issues to consider in the meantime.

Real though Climate Change may (or may not) be, it is not on the short list of the most critical problems faced by our species, or the planet in general.

Obama, possessed though he may be of political genius, is otherwise an imbecile.

OK...once again we'll go thru this again; even if we all agreed this problem is real we would NEVER do the things that are necessary to solve the problem, and even if we did it wouldn't matter in comparison to India and China's rate of pollution.

So . . . fuck it? Let's ignore the entire issue?

THAT's your answer?

Really?

>once again we'll go thru this again . . .

To summarize:

The planet is not warming.
The planet might be warming but we didn't do it.
Maybe we did do it but we can't do anything about it.
Even if we did something about it some other people wouldn't.

IIRC, it's about 30 GT..., not 3,000.

Just reread this...
It's 30GT being put into the atmosphere per year...

My question still stands, quade.
What is the weight fraction of CO2 in the atmosphere, today?
I want to see your answer in this forum.

What is your evidence for this? It seems to me this sort of statement is based on ignorance of how small the atmosphere really is. Here's an interesting graphic for you, the little pink sphere superimposed on the Earth on the right is the volume that would be occupied by the entire atmosphere if it was all at 1 atmosphere (i.e. sea level) pressure. The even smaller blue ball on the left is all the water, salt and fresh, in the world.

It's interesting that people who would never dream of drinking a glass of water from a swimming pool if they knew one person had peed in there, have no problem dumping all kinds of crap into the air they breath and depend on to maintain a liveable environment.
