California drought is hurting the case for green energy

California knows what happens when it has to turn to more natural gas. In 2012 and 2013, thanks to dry years (and the shutdown of one nuclear power station) hydroelectricity’s contribution to the electricity mix fell sharply. Gas came to the rescue.

In 2011, California generated about 42 million megawatt-hours of electricity from hydropower, and about 89 million megawatt hours of electricity from natural gas. The next year, hydroelectric generation plummeted to less than 26 million milliwatts per hour (mWh), while gas-fired generation soared to 121 million mWh.

I'm betting those 'free' supercharger stations won't be free for much longer.[:/]

***Overpriveleged douchebags thinking their cars are so green.

"Overpriveleged [sic]"? You mad someone can afford a Tesla and not you? :D:D:D

I'm mad that overpriveledged douchebags get tax dollars to buy their vehicles. Anyone who can buy a $100,000 automobile doesn't need a tax credit for doing so.

Now this is hilarious, a conservative angry about tax breaks for the rich :D WHY DO YOU HATE AMERICA??

I hate to break this to you but oil and gas companies still get tax breaks that dwarf these. Does that make you a douchebag for burning subsidized gas?

I've been saying for years, that nuclear power is the cleanest, safest form of non-geographically-dependent base grid power generation, especially if we stop being retards and start recycling our fuel. There's no credible alternative.

Unfortunately, the scientifically illiterate packs of morons out there are sperging out about safety issues pertaining to plants from the middle of last century. We don't judge cars by their crash test results from 60 years ago, do we? No, we develop better cars, just as we've developed better reactors.
cavete terrae.
