kallend 2,146 #4 January 28, 2014 NPR replayed an interview with him this morning, in which he tells of being blacklisted in the red scares of the '50s, called to testify before the UnAmerican Activities Committee under threat of being cited for contempt of Congress, and how in the south the segregationists threw rocks at his car after concerts.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

NWFlyer 2 #7 January 28, 2014 jclalor ***Seeger. Dohhh!!! And right when I tried to fix it, my IPhone died... For good. It's because you were celebrating the life of an Un-American commie like Pete Seeger. You hate America, your iPhone dies. Or something like that. Southern_Man 0 #8 January 28, 2014 jclalor***NPR replayed an interview with him this morning, in which he tells of being blacklisted in the red scares of the '50s, called to testify before the UnAmerican Activities Committee under threat of being cited for contempt of Congress, and how in the south the segregationists threw rocks at his car after concerts. I bet they hated him, he helped write the anthem of the civil rights movement, "We shall overcome" He only popularized that one, although he claims to have changed the lyrics from the more traditional "we will overcome" to the more singable "we shall overcome" He was cited for contempt because he refused to answer most of the committees questions about his political associations. He was sentenced to serve a year but that was overturned on appeal. Tons of great songs he either wrote or helped popularize: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_yC4ffyGiw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivshYkrNWrg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jj3s8qq3kU4"What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
