Andy9o8 2 #2 January 26, 2014 Jeez, you beat me to the OP by like 3 minutes. I was gonna title the thread "GOP chews its paw off", or some reference to cannibalism. Stupid fuckers. Leave it to them to snatch defeat from the jaws of opportunity. I wonder who Hillary's Vice President will be?
billvon 3,116 #3 January 26, 2014 Heck, if Ronald Reagan were looking to get into politics today, the GOP would consider him too liberal. Ann Coulter would have already written a book entitled "Treason and Treachery - the Story of Ronald Reagan" and half of Rush Limbaugh's show would be attacks on Reagan's family, friends and pets. Would be much better and closer to normal than what we currently have In any event, it is about time McCain got formally called on his bs One thing Obama and McCain have in common however, is they are both on narcissistic power trips"America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." GeorgiaDon 380 #10 January 26, 2014 kallend***Heck, if Ronald Reagan were looking to get into politics today, the GOP would consider him too liberal. Eisenhower and GHWB too. RINOs!I wonder how far back we would have to go to find a president who would be politically palatable to Rush and those of his ilk? I'm thinking the last one might have been Calvin Coolidge, president from 1924-1928. From his bio here: "As President, Coolidge demonstrated his determination to preserve the old moral and economic precepts amid the material prosperity which many Americans were enjoying. He refused to use Federal economic power to check the growing boom or to ameliorate the depressed condition of agriculture and certain industries. His first message to Congress in December 1923 called for isolation in foreign policy, and for tax cuts, economy, and limited aid to farmers." and "The political genius of President Coolidge, Walter Lippmann pointed out in 1926, was his talent for effectively doing nothing: "This active inactivity suits the mood and certain of the needs of the country admirably. It suits all the business interests which want to be let alone.... And it suits all those who have become convinced that government in this country has become dangerously complicated and top-heavy...." Of course, his term was followed almost immediately by the stock market crash of 1929 and the Great Depression, which was arguably made more likely to happen and worse when it did happen by Coolidge's policies. BIGUN 1,486 #11 January 26, 2014 I'm reminded of a thread Billvon started not long ago... to paraphrase, "The Republican Party needs to get its shit together."Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
