lawrocket 3 #1 January 20, 2014 I was hoping to put the thing on here. Because it's copyrighted. MLK copyrighted the entirety of his speech the month after he gave it. His estate apparently sold it to EMI. And I'm sure you are all aware of how EMI deals with its copyrighted works. Better have the proper licensing. The copyright expires in 2038. I have to wonder what MLK would think about this. I know he copyrighted it. The copyright was even litigated, with the court going with the estate's argument that it was a "performance" to the media, thus entitled to qualified copyright protection in its entirety. This is an important speech - possibly the most important speech in America in the last 50 years. The libertarian in me is really really torn on this... My wife is hotter than your wife. quade 4 #2 January 20, 2014 Copyright in the US is a little broken. Corporations have seen to it that it not only remains a little broken, but it's slowly getting more and more broken. If you're interested in how broken it is, you might want to do a search of the "On the Media" website/podcast. They've covered the issues pretty well including this specific issue with the "I Have a Dream" speech. http://www.onthemedia.orgquade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

And when you start throwing regional differences into the mix - then it just gets ridiculous. davjohns 1 #5 January 21, 2014 I was unaware that he copyrighted it. That seem antithetical to the idea of the message being for everyone. But he may have wanted to make sure the message wasn't misused.I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

(full speech) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smEqnnklfYs (abridged version) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFcbpGK9_aw Truly an impassioned orator. (I also enjoy listening to Sir Winston Churchill).
