wmw999 2,589 #2 January 7, 2014 I'm a liberal. I'm even female. You see first the strident outliers, just as some liberals see first the strident outliers of the conservatives -- the religious who not only want to worship, they want everyone else to live their lives around perceived Christian principlesthe conservative who think everyone should be free to engage in behavior that they, the conservative, could imagine, but nothing outside thatobjecting to speech that offends her is hypocritical -- but how many of the people that offend her, are offended by her speech? Do you really think that a similar list can't be made about conservatives by liberals? And that it wouldn't sound just as true to people who first hear the strident outliers? jakee 1,596 #4 January 8, 2014 Quote I know I might get slammed but these saying are very close to the truth. Right, and typical conservatives have never read any book except the bible, think gay people are an abomination because Leviticus says so but it's ok to eat shellfish because the New Testament overturned Leviticus, want to triple military spending but cut any government spending on healthcare or welfare for low earners, think corporate bosses should have immunity from prosecution for anything their companies do wrong but that teenagers should get 20 years and a permanent felony stamp for a 'teenth of weed, think the government shouldn't be trusted to decide anything about what weapons you own unless you look like the kind of person who might plant a bomb in which case permanent detention without trial is an option they should use and they think that freedom of religion is so important that everyone should be able to read the Ten Commandments stamped on the walls of every government building but that anyone who goes to a private mosque to read the Koran should be surveilled as a potential enemy of the state. And that's damn close to the truthDo you want to have an ideagasm?
SkyCoi 0 #5 January 8, 2014 +1 Liberals have a wide cross-section of values, as do conservatives. As does just about every other belief system. The Internet was specifically developed by Al Gore to create memes which attempt to misinform and create dissent.

RonD1120 62 #9 January 8, 2014 In SC the use of the terms liberal, conservative, Tea Party, Christian, Muslim, etc. will lead to flaming attacks. I use them for entertainment purposes only. Progressive and Libertarian seem to be emerging as the more acceptable terms of political classification. IMO, the Progressives are the low information voters. On one side they are the offspring of the yuppies of the 1980's. These folks are intelligent but myopic. The other side is represented by the inner city groups that associate income with the mailbox. The Progressives seem to lack the incentive to excel at personal responsibility. Libertarians desire less government programs and more focus on personal responsibility and community survival. They tend to believe in a creator but some are agnostic in that regard. Basically, they desire to work for a living, provide for their family and share with others in the community. I think Libertarian philosophy can be summed up, "A country boy can survive."Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

DanG 1 #12 January 8, 2014 If you're going to characterize Progressives as either spacey, head-in-the-clouds, rich kids, or black welfare queens, then don't be surprized when someone else says Conservatives are either Fortune 500 CEOs or twelve toed rednecks. BTW, Libertarian is not opposed to Progressive. Conservative is the word you're looking for. Libertarians, IMO, believe in the social freedoms espoused by Progressives, and the fiscal freedoms espoused by Conservatives. - Dan G
