Hey, unfair to Exxon. Exxon now admits that AGW is real.
They'd make blood sacrifice to Baal if there was a buck to be made.

"Prediction is very difficult, especially about the future."; Neils Bohr (Nobel prizewinning physicist and one of the founders of quantum mechanics).
There are lots of things we can't predict exactly, but that doesn't mean the basic science is incorrect.
Good point.

The problem is when predictions are "based on science" the way a Hollywood film is "based on a true story."
We know that the basic science is correct. What's being done with the basic science apparently isn't.
Well, let's see. The most accurate theory in the entire history of science is quantum mechanics. However, no-one can predict exactly when a radioactive atom will decay. No-one can predict which slit an single electron will go through in a double slit experiment....
Our knowledge of fluid mechanics is so good that we can use it to design Mach 3 aircraft and airliners that can fly 1/2 way around the world... yet no-one can predict exactly how a flag will flap in the wind.
Using your (and Brenthutch's) reasoning, quantum mechanics is an unproven theory, as is fluid mechanics.

Instead we get "An Inconvenient Truth".
