De Leon“The threat of plastic and self-assembled firearms should not be underestimated. There is an emerging industry and market for untraceable and undetectable ghost guns,” Translation: "This isn't actually a problem or caused any problems that we're aware of." De Leon“No one knows they exist and there is no way to know if criminals or other dangerous individuals are circumventing firearm laws by making these guns.” Translation: "This law will require people to come to us to ask for our permission to do something they are capable of doing on their own in such a way that we have no way to know they are doing it, because if we don't want them to do it, and they have to ask us if they can, then we can stop them. Right now they don't ask because they don't have to." The Brady Campaign"This is a common-sense step..." Translation: "This is any proposed gun legislation ever. Also, we probably wrote it." regulator 0 #2 December 17, 2013 Gun control isn't about guns...its about control and now they might as well want you to ask permission to take a dump in the toilet.
champu 1 #3 October 1, 2014 Update: Brown vetoed SB 808 today. I like his veto message, it's almost exactly what I wrote in a letter to him earlier this month... http://gov.ca.gov/docs/SB_808_Veto_Message.pdf
BartsDaddy 7 #4 October 1, 2014 Yes he has surprised me in not signing some gun control bills I thought would go through. But on this one I agree with his statement but not his choice to return it without signing.as opposed to vetoing it. If he truly believed what he said he would have vetoed it.but he would like it to pass without his name on it so send it back. I could be wrong but that is the way I see it. Handguns are only used to fight your way to a good rifle
champu 1 #5 October 1, 2014 Returning the bill to the house of origin with no signature is what vetoing means in California (and the United States.) They can still override it, but I don't think that's happened in California since the late 70s.

champu 1 #7 January 19, 2015 Sigh... Looks like Mike Honda is going after this at the national level now and is apparently going to try to ban blocks of aluminum, springs, and metal pins while he's at it. That 'ought to be fun. I particularly like the part of 376 where he intends to make it illegal to market or advertise blocks of aluminum, springs, and metal pins in any electronic medium. ...can't wait for the text of the bills to come out...
