There are pushes in dozens of states across the country for new "mental health mandates" that could disarm millions of gun owners nationwide. Georgia gun owners should be on guard and prepared to fight back if Republicans in the General Assembly in Atlanta decide to push "mental health" legislation in 2014. Bad stuff

We definitely don't want to deprive people like Holmes, Cho, Loughner, Kazmierczak and Lanza of their guns. No Siree.

It is difficult to predict the behavior of people with mental illness. The only reasonable protection is for responsible folks to be armed and trained.

I guess that excludes skydivers, then.

So, the rest of the western world is unreasonable in its handling of those with a mental illness and only the US is reasonable in how it handles this issue?

You forget, the USA is an exceptional county. It was founded on an ideal. No reason for us to handle our problems like other countries.

If you like it better where you are, stay there.

Certainly has an exceptionally high murder rate when compared with other western industrial nations. And an exceptionally high cost of healthcare compared with other nations that have better health outcomes.

I never said the US should...I asked if you though the US was the only country in the western world who handled mental illness reasonably?

Interesting 3 posts...Ron, do you also post under a different name?

Let me explain. First post was not blocked out properly. Second post was the correction following the discovery. Third post was thanking the German that caught the error.

Is that better? All you folks related to Great Britain seem to have a lot of difficulty figuring out the obvious.

I am not aware of any western world country that handles mental illness reasonably. The whole concept was invented by Sigmund Freud to provide a funding source and focus for his cocaine habit.

Back in the day, cocaine was not a very expensive hobby.

Sigh. This is what will continue to happen with stand your ground laws.

You have proof this would not have happened without SYG laws?

Quote

OK, right-wingers, mount a spirited defense of this guy like you did for Zimmerman. And tell us how SYG laws benefit all of us

As soon as you left wingers use the correct terms and quit blaming things on something you clearly do not really understand.

Now.... Watch carefully: The guy should not have shot the old man. He should of stayed inside.

Strawman...... And they don't help your point.

Holmes, Cho, Loughner, Kazmierczak and Lanza, were ALL already prohibited persons. And ALL took firearms where they were not legally allowed.

Quote

It certainly would have helped the victims of Holmes, Cho, Loughner, Kazmierczak and Lanza . I realize that you think the victims are just acceptable collateral damage.

You know what would have worked (and did)? Armed resistance. But I realize you prefer innocent dead people to armed citizens.

My wife and I just returned from a shopping trip to a north GA Walmart. While there we spotted a middle aged man with his wife and daughter. He was wearing red, white and blue suspenders. On his head was a Civil War style cap, brown with crossed infantry rifles on the front. On his hip was a holstered Glock. They were laughing and in the holiday spirit like they didn't have a care in the world. I got kinda teary-eyed.
