I'm 1000% for creating programs for youths and what not. I also believe that those that have committed this type of assault should be judged and penalized by the law, if they're caught of course. And I'm not against forgiving and moving on from those whom have committed these crimes and have served their time and learned their lesson.

I can see Phobe's point of view where I would be grateful to be alive and not seriously hurt by those attackers and move on with my life. Someone needs to educate these teens regarding the possible serious brain trauma or even possible death this game can cause their victims. However, I firmly believe that if caught and punished by the law, these kids can acknowledge it as a wake up call for them to prevent them from doing this in the future and maybe even educate their peers about it.

Parents and schools should educate their children about this. Some parents may not care or may be too busy in their lives to spend time with their kids about this or maybe even not see this as a serious issue. Schools may not want to get involved in this or spend money for programs to educate kids about this either. I think their peers should speak out against this on social media or even youtube. I don't know.

If enough attackers are caught and punished this would serve as a deterrent for them from committing these crimes in the future as well as deter other attackers from committing these crimes.

Sadly, I have limited confidence in this possibility. The enticement factor is in getting away with it as the LEO's cannot be everywhere at once. Surveillance cameras notwithsanding, will LE put major effort to stop this in its present form and intensity? Probably not until we see either a number of victims killed or a number of assailants shot. It's only a matter of time when a "target" is picked out and engaged and ooops, the attacker is looking down the barrel of a gun. The "target" has a concealed carry permit! Funny thing, we've not had any of that stuff happen in Virginia. Why? Because there are a lot of people here that pack heat legally....and the "lil' darlins" knwo it.

We need to stop referring to this "Knockout" nonsense as a game. It's not a game. It's assault bordering on attempted murder. It is a criminal act that shows a complete lack of respect for life. We did some dumb things when I was young. But nothing that comes close to the lack of respect that this "Knockout" BS is.

It may just seem like a rising trend now because of the presence of so many cameras in society which now capture these things on video, which didn't use to happen. If it's on video, it gets more widespread attention than a written one-line entry in a police blotter.
