D22369 0 #1 November 24, 2013 so me and the kid go shooting today, first clip out of my 6 month old smith & Wesson 9mm shield go well, then nothing.... just a click - eject the unspent round and find the primer is only slightly dented on each of the next 8 I try and the impact point is not the same on each there are perhaps 400 rounds through this weapon so far. switched to my defense ammo and find it does exactly the same. its going to my gunsmith next weekend, anyone else have a similar problem? I am thinking the firing pin sheared or its spring broke there are 0 posts on the smith & Wesson website addressing this problem so it seems I once again find a strange issue *(getting to almost be a normal thing in my life) anyone got any other guesses as to the cause? champu 1 #2 November 24, 2013 D22369its going to my gunsmith next weekend, anyone else have a similar problem? No, but googling "M&P shield light strike" and a little browsing around yielded a tutorial on removal, inspection, and re-install of the firing pin/striker for M&P pistols. flygirl1220 0 #6 November 24, 2013 So my bf is quite knowledgeable about guns. He said it may be your triggers firing pin safety detent. It isn't getting depressed right it will effect the firing pin strike. Such as a piece of gunpowder or what not that its dirty. The pic attached is the piece effected. It is the little circular button at the back of the slide. The reference is a s&w m&p 40. So maybe give it a real good cleaning and see if it helps? D22369 0 #8 November 24, 2013 Awesome, TY and thank your bf for me I kinda tend to lock into the most obvious and usually worse case scenario *(something broke) - tonight when I get back from dropping my son off in Oregon I will completely disassemble the weapon- give it a a complete cleaning and test it tomorrow.
