champu 1 #4 November 17, 2013 The MQ-9 has become the stock image of "a drone" regardless of what the news story is about. Given recent trends in journalism when it comes to stories that involve details of a technical nature, it wouldn't surprise me that much to see pictures of an A380 or a 747 on an article about a 182 crash landing with the caption "This is an airplane. An airplane crashed today." It doesn't say what it was, but if they're referring to it as a target drone, it was likely a BQM-74. On the downside, they can move a lot faster than an MQ-9 and potentially cause more injuries and damage. On the upside, they cost about 1/40th of what an MQ-9 costs. Either way, glad to hear no one was more seriously injured.

You know, there is a house about 6 miles South of Longmont that would be fun to fly that over.Do you think it could carry a speaker and play "Ride of the Valkyries"?"There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones.
