How about a sensible approach with hard reality. It might affect a few girls but in the end there will always be people who do not think about what would happen if they did something. Like what that young man that shot the teacher and himself had to been thinking about. Why do we live in a soceity that is unable to learn from the past because it repeats itself so often its ludicrous? We had that, AND we had to carry around this electronic baby for a weekend. It was programmed to cry, needed to be changed, burped, etc, and kept track of how well it was taken care of. It weighed as much as a real baby and everything, IIRC. This isn't a problem just confined to young girls. Young boys should also be educated, and it's a problem with 20 and 30 something women in the dating world too. Do I think it's irresponsible to have unprotected sex and not be prepared to deal with the possible outcome? Yes. I went way out of my way to prevent that through my young adult life, but more so because I was also a germaphobe afraid of diseases, but I digress.... Anywho, even if I didn't agree with the whole abortion thing, it doesn't mean I should force anybody to not have one.Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
davjohns 1 #27 October 23, 2013 ryoder***As a matter of principle, I have to agree with you. However, there's always that little devil on my other shoulder. He sounds an awful lot like a friend I had in law school. He said, "I never vote. It just encourages the bastards." http://books.google.com/books?id=nI6tDDo5rvgC&printsec=frontcover&source=gbs_ge_summary_r&cad=0#v=onepage&q&f=false Ha! I guess he was quoting someone and I didn't recognize it. Thanks for the link!I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

wmw999 2,589 #29 October 23, 2013 I remember an old low-tech reference in the book Hawaii. The powers-that-be tied strings to the pencils, and put the ballot holder such that to mark one party, the string was tight, the other party, the string was loose -- and voila, they had their answer. I'm sure the author didn't think of that himself Wendy P. There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
CanuckInUSA 0 #30 October 23, 2013 Quote Stop moaning .... vote I did ... I voted just this last Monday in our local Municipal elections with mixed results. Funny how all the focus is usually on Federal or Provincial/State politics, but often it is at the local Municipal level where most of the damage occurs because Municipal candidates are often not vetted enough. As I said, I voted with mixed results. The person I didn't want to win as Mayor was re-elected. But fortunately the guy I wanted to win my local Ward (a 20 year veteran of the police service) and represent me as my Councillor did unseat the tax and spend incumbent. So while the Mayor was re-elected, he will have less power because several of the incumbent tax and spend Councillors the Mayor endorsed, will NOT be returning. Of course only time will determine how this all plays out. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
turtlespeed 226 #31 October 23, 2013 wmw999 1.4% of abortions were after 21 weeks (which counts as late term). I don't really think that counts as "all the time." As far as your other so elegantly expressed opinion, well, we'll have to disagree. If nothing else, the health of the mother and viability of the fetus should be considered exceptions. I also think that abortion for something like gender selection is awful. Of course, so are plenty of other things, like abandoning one's children and not paying child support. Wendy P. I am absolutely in favor of these women having the wherewithal to murder their unborn children.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
ryoder 1,590 #32 October 23, 2013 I just received my mail-in ballot a few days ago. I'm really torn on how to vote on the Backyard Chicken Ordinance.I'm not making this up: http://www.dailycamera.com/broomfield-election-news/ci_24301180/broomfield-ballot-question-2a-backyard-chicken-ordinance "There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. Southern_Man 0 #33 October 23, 2013 ryoder I'm really torn on how to vote on the Backyard Chicken Ordinance. Last city council election I would only vote for candidates who would support a backyard chicken ordinance. I need the eggs."What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
