davjohns 1 #17 October 31, 2013 I was a cop in my early twenties. I thought I was really somethng. Even then, I was very polite to everyone no matter what they said or did. I knew I would always go home at the end of the shift. They might be in jail. No need to get angry. I will always remember the one time I raised my voice at a guy. He was in the wrong and I was trying to help him walk away. He wouldn't shut up. I finally raised my voice and said something like, "Will you just shut up a minute?" I immediately caught myself and apologized to him. Afterwards, I told the rookie with me that it was a terrible example. There's never a reason to let a subject get under your skin. This guy is all kinds of wrong. He should be charged just as if he wasn't wearing a uniform when he did this. But it is more wrong because he was wearing the uniform.I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. I've lost track of how many defendants I've encountered who were smashed-up during - or after - their arrests, but every single one of them, without exception, was charged with assault on officer.
