He really took good care of himself. Other healthy people helped to subsidize any healthcare he got. Obamacare will soon be taking care of lots of people like this who don't live a healthy lifestyle. With your money.

Right now the public is already taking care of him. He goes to the public hospital (via the most-expensive ER), and gets in once things are desperate.

It's the stupidest possible way to run medicine. Let's wait until it's really, really bad before we address medical issues. Kind of like never changing your oil, and then being upset because you burned up your engine.

Obamacare is by no means the be-all and end-all. It's trying to put unsustainably-rising medical costs back onto more medical consumers. Right now they're going onto some consumers, and onto the public (via public hospitals).

Making the cost of medical care go down will be the real golden egg, but that will take people actually taking care of themselves, and not just eating and drinking whatever is cheapest and in front of them. Right now they can get a pill to "fix me." Of course, it's an expensive fix, and they all want the more expensive pill/procedure that they see advertised.
