After all, we have two oceans and a gulf. I first heard of this solution while serving in Vietnam, but I left out one procedure: before sinking the ship, cover the country with three feet of asphalt (some of my comrades felt it would be cheaper to provide a swimming pool for each North Vietnamese household in addition to a free college education). You have to admit that international piracy in Somali would be a thing of the past if this were applied to Somali.

All the more reason TO understand it. Once people understand that most Muslims are not puritanical in their beliefs, or adhere to it's tenants as strictly as the extremists do, they will understand how there can be 1.5 billion peace-loving Muslims in the world.

Once people understand that most Christians aren't as deranged as Terry Nichols, or greedy as Harold Camping, they will understand Christians are just as human as everyone else (and don't really want to take over the entire world with their ideals).

We have to stop measuring the relative worth of religion by it's extremists, or by the extremity of their scriptures. Most people are still good people, even if they believe in invisible sky-gods that write books and do good deeds by possessing mortals.

I have as much admiration for the 'Koran' crowd as I do for the 'Mein Kampf' types, for pretty much the same reason. Even if adherents have never read either, the fact that they voice the affiliation says it all.

The reason i am sure you have no clue what you are talking about is i have read it. NO matter what you think of the material or contextthe one thing that’s not up for dispute is if it is well written.

As for comparing it to "Mein Kamp" Islam is the ONLY religion that is all inclusive, i think the only religion that actually has the MEIN Kampf mentality as we are the ONLY chosen ones is Judaism.

No, but I believe the spread of Sharia Law in the United States is real, and as they kill and attempt to kill non-muslims on American soil, liberals, from the White House down will continue to make excuses for them. The Tanakh is a Bronze to Iron Age family history of sorts, and was never intended for general consumption.

If you spend any time with Parsha study at various Congregations, you will find that the general consensus is one of "you've come a long way, baby."

The Children of Israel are one big, dysfunctional family, and we look at our track record as recorded in the Tanakh to remind us that none of us has ever batted a thousand.

The Koran consists of cherry-picked transcriptions of the ramblings of an illiterate wannabe who picked up a smattering of Hebrew and Christian teachings during his early travels, and provided a watered-down revisionist treatment as part of his claim to legitimacy.

The "cherry-picking" consisted of declaring that a great number of the transcriptions were "satanic verses" and burning them, the primary criterion being that these particular passages were too definitively evil - even though they came from the same source.

I am not saying that the writings of one religion or another have much to recommend them. I am, however, noting that the Koran is as fucked up as a football bat, and that the adherents of its misogynistic, medieval and malevolent teachings have little to recommend them on that basis.

People get picky about the editorializing and choice of verbiage of the King James Version's treatment of Hebrew Scripture, but the key points that show up in Hebrew and Aramaic come across.

As far as taking Mitzvot far too seriously and trying to implement them in real time goes, the wannabe ethic espoused in the Koran is particularly virulent.

The pathology of Islam, whereby it is indiscriminate in its infection, is hardly to its credit.
