wolfriverjoe 1,523 #52 July 19, 2013 regulatorSo does this mean the Detroit Lions will go away now? Hell no. They are worth way too much money. And they are owned by the Ford family. They are as likely to leave Detroit as the Bears are to leave Chicago. Not that the Lions are ever going to be a relevant team, but they are still in the NFL."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." lawrocket 3 #55 July 20, 2013 Here's the deal: Unions like democrats. Take a look at the cause of the municipal bankruptcies the past couple of years. With nearly every one of them, retirement benefits for public employees is the primary obligation that puts them in a deep hole. It's the nature of the beast. There's an American bourgeois, and that is the public employee. The issue is now whether the retired governmennt employee gets the spoils or whether the present government employee gets the spoils. Because there isn't enough to pay both what they've been promised. My wife is hotter than your wife.
GeorgiaDon 380 #56 July 20, 2013 QuoteThere's an American bourgeois, and that is the public employee. It's quite remarkable how public employees have become the whipping boy du jour. I know quite a few people who work for my city/county, and almost all are so greedy they're holding down two and, in some cases, three jobs. Of course, that's just to eek out a lower middle class standard of living. Awfully uppity for serfs, I know. Actually about the only county employees I know who don't have to take a second job are (surprise!) lawyers. For years, these people have made concession after concession in salary, in exchange for the promise that they won't have to dumpster dive to survive retirement. What fools! Now the oh-so-fucking-superior lawyers and business managers are here to tell those workers that they're greedy pigs to expect their employer to honestly fulfill the contract they signed, after the workers have met their side of the bargain. Stealing people's pensions is no different than stealing their paycheck. A price was agreed to for their labor, and after the job is done the employer gets to decide, unilaterally, that they'll only pay half what they agreed to? But we all know the lawyers will cover their own asses, they won't be short a dime of their exorbitant compensation. Hell, they'll probably pay themselves a big bonus for screwing over retired teachers, police, firefighters, etc. If public workers are to get screwed over, I suggest that the lawyers, managers, and politicians take it on the chin too. In fact they should pay more, as they were the ones to fuck things up in the first place. Let that Harvard grad lawyer try to survive on $100/month. Don Getting wages and retirement benefits that are more than the private sector will get you labeled this way If government is going to pay these kinds of benefits then costs need to cut elsewhere but they cant do that they would voted out and then they (the Dems) can no longer have control of money that is not their's to begin with So please, whine to the uninformed Most here know better"America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Each item in the list has a link to a reference. http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/25-facts-about-the-fall-of-detroit-that-will-leave-you-shaking-your-head I heard an interview while on the road this week end. Didn’t catch his name. He was relating what has happened to Detroit to what he believes is about to happen to the State of CA Basically, he says that Detroit could keep going down a poor economic path as long as the manufacturing jobs remained. Then, taxes and other government regulation and other money confiscation schemes drove those needed jobs away. This was all caused by a government constantly needing more money to grow and control Well, this guy says it is coming to CA. CA survives today because of the tech industry and places like Silicon Valley. But, as costs and regulations grow/increase, there will come a time when those business say to hell with it and leave. He says there are signs that this is starting already. Once that exodus get in full roll, the State of CA will follow the life cycle of Detroit Don’t know if he is correct or not but, something to watch and think about And I think we all know other cites are on the death watch list as well"America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."
