If you read what he said (shouldn't be hard since he was quoted in your article) he doesn't reference racial issues when talking about SYG. In other words, he didn't say that repealing SYG would help African-Americans in particular, he said it would help everyone. - Dan G

Holder never bothered to interview the blacks and whites who used SYG, nor the blacks and whites who are alive because of SYG.Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts. DanG 1 #4 July 17, 2013 Why does debate about SYG have to be a black/white thing? Is it because Holder's black and he was speaking in front of black people? - Dan G

It doesn't have to be a "black/white" thing. He made it a "black/white" thing. Why was he just speaking in front of just black people? Why weren't the people of "Florida" who believe SYG is a good law allowed to participate? When does the Attorney General's racial and cultural diversity kick in?Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts.
DanG 1 #6 July 17, 2013 He was speaking at the NAACP annual convention, I believe. BTW, there are white members, too. Since the forum wasn't a SYG debate (actually it wasn't a debate at all) and his SYG comments lasted about one minute, why would the organizers invite SYG proponents? - Dan G

QUOTE: "Holder, who was pressured by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and other progressive groups to open a civil rights case against acquitted neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman in the 2012 shooting death of 17-year-old Martin, criticized Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” self-defense law in a speech Tuesday before the NAACP." ............. No forum here... the man was under pressure by one or more groups, and in only one minute, voiced agreement with their demands? jclalor 12 #8 July 17, 2013 QuoteBut approximately one third of Florida “Stand Your Ground” claims in fatal cases have been made by black defendants, and they have used the defense successfully 55 percent of the time I'm guessing the 45% was a SYG defense against someone white who was killed. Do you have some stats on that? Florida is not Chicago, but I would bet there is still more black on black than black on white killings in Florida.Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts. Your guess would be wrong..... Read the report before you make uneducated comments that support a bull shit race divide. If you count Hispanics as 'white' there are 10 cases of black shooter, white 'victim'. 2 were convicted, 4 were released and 4 are still in the system. Black/black has 26 cases with 16 being justified. And the data is not very good... They consider 'Nadim Yaqubie' to be a 'white guy'
