Most Christians I know wouldn't vote for Jesus

>Most Christians I know wouldn't vote for Jesus

Heck, most wouldn't vote for Reagan; he's far too much of an illegal-immigrant-lovin', tax-and-spendin', gay-supportin', commie-kissin' liberal for any of the religious right today.

An amusing video that just happens to seem pretty accurate as well.
America's Not a Christian Nation but Jesus Would Be an Awesome President.

While I agree that most people don't *fully* follow Christ, as His teachings are very demanding when you look at all of them, this little bit is nowhere near accurate and is just a lib feel good fest. Breaking down the paragraph in the link:

"[Jesus] never spoke English" Really? Never knew that. :: eye roll::

"A guy who was anti-wealth" Not true. He was against people that put wealth ahead of God and Love.

"anti-possessions" Not true. (see above)

"anti-self defense" Not true. Peter ran around with sword all the time for self defense.

"anti-greed" True.

"anti-death penalty completely" Not true.

"anti-public prayer" Not true. He was against people who prayed in public to seem righteous. Huge difference.

"never once anti-gay" Semi true. (If you break one law, you break them all. "Don't misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets."). That being said, He was never anti-anyone, so in that sense, He wasn't anti-gay. He was however, anti-sin.

"never mentioned abortion" True, but it is condemned in the Didache. He also considered anyone that harmed children to be the worst of the worst, so I'd label this as an overall fail too.

"never really mentioned premarital sex" Semi true, but was still opposed (If you break one law, you break them all). He also clearly labelled adultery a sin ("Go and sin no more"). He also condemns a lot of sexual deviancy in Revelation.

"never justified torture" True.

"never called the poor lazy" True. But He'd call anyone lazy if they were, rich or not. Saying I came from a poor family would not excuse you from caring for another or doing God's work.

"never asked a leper for a copay" True, but then again, why would He? That would be like saying, "Never asked a to pay automobile tax"

"never fought for tax cuts for the wealthiest Nazarenes" True, but He didn't get mired into politics of the day.

"Middle Eastern outrageously liberal reformer Jew" Its funnny when libs try and say this. His teachings are anything but what current US liberals teach.
You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.

It's interesting that you feel compelled to mention liberals 3 times, in 2 of which you use the dismissive semi-pejorative "lib(s)". You're so busy trying to discern and debunk a partisan perspective that you wind up projecting an extreme, almost caricatured, partisan perspective. Name-giving is just a back-handed way of name-calling; but more to the point, it's playing the player and not the ball. And parroting tired, old FoxNews-style sloganeering has become, well, tired and old. Gingrich ain't Mr. Speaker no more, and Conservatives who are conscientious about keeping their message credible and effective need to modernize their game.

You make some interesting counter-points that merit consideration. But then you distract the reader from your own message by trash-talking. Pity.

The funny thing about the bible is that I can quote to you chapter and verse to contradict everything you claim above, then you can do the same to me. The Bible, if nothing else is a book of complete contradictions. You quote Jesus as saying he did not come to abolish the law and then Jesus violates the law by forgiving the adulteress and not allowing others to stone her. Also, the funny thing about John 8:7, one of the most famous Biblical passages, No manuscript before the fourth century contains the passage, who the hell who knows who wrote it.

If America had been founded on Christian principles it would have a theocracy. It was founded on Greco-Roman principles. (The word "democracy" comes from the Greek demos, common people.; "republic" comes from the Latin word publicus, public.)

Thanks for the video.

Most "Christians" aren't Christians at all, of course.

True, Jesus came so that we could experience the Love and spiritual regeneration that is God. He did not come to save the politically incorrect.

I wouldn't, it would be a demeaning position. Like when Satan offered Jesus the world if he would bow to him.

I've wondered about this. How did Satan come to own the kingdoms of the world that he could offer those to anybody? God made the world and everything in it. Did he mortgage it to Satan? Did he sell it, or give it away? If so, why?
Implicit in this temptation, as in the Garden of Eden, is that Satan has a lot to offer, but I don't understand how he acquired the right to grant things to people. Did God, like Bill Booth, just decide not to exercise patent rights on things he created? Someone please enlighten me on this point.

Bwahaha. Helluva team you're recruiting there, old boy.

About 2% of the total, that is the standard. Everything is right on schedule.

Liars often offer things to people that they have no right, power, or intention to deliver.

Do you mean things like an eternity of bliss in heaven?
