And investing millions of pounds - but then, if you don't need the economic activity, feel free to buy him out... I probably have an awful lot more invested in the US than most people here. Does that make my opinion more relevant? ETA - quoting functionality seems broken. That would depend on what your investment is, what you disagree with here, and whether you're willing to do anything about it. Ultimately you (and Trump in the original post) have the ability to walk away and take whatever money you can get for your investments out. And that is perfectly justified. If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead. Kennedy 0 #28 July 2, 2013 turtlespeed*********They will be a mile and a half out to sea. Very little sympathy for trump for a couple of reasons. 1. He's an idiot. 2. as someone else said, he's basically just a nimby, which is especially ironic given he doesn't even live there. I have wind turbines about as far away from me as is being proposed here, and you basically don't even see them, let alone hear them. . . . and you are so much more intelligent and show that by your success that out shines the Don, right? They're measuring intelligence by money in the bank now? Seems pretty simple to me. If you were intelligent enough to ridicule him, it seems you would be intelligent enough to compete financially with him. Paris Hilton, Nicole Ritchie, Lindsay Lohan, the Kardashians, Justin Bieber, Larry the cable guy, and plenty of other idiots have a lot more money and toys than you or I. That doesn't necessarily make them smarter than you or I. However, take note that I called Trump an asshole and a blowhard. I did not call him an idiot. My point is the ability to leverage your assets into material gain is not an indicator of intelligence or quality if life.witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
kelpdiver 2 #29 July 2, 2013 skypuppy Trumps resort would increase jobs in construction, maintenance and tourism for a much longer period than the supposed wind farm would. It would also cause a considerable level of pollution (golf course care requires lots of chemicals) for very low utilization. Meanwhile, the wind farm removes a small level of pollution. And of course, there's no reason why it's one or the other, save that Trump would like to force that choice, using reasons that are mostly bullshit (again, how the fuck are these blades going to kill marine mammals?). He's the kind of asshole you give an inch to, he'll demand a mile.

And investing millions of pounds - but then, if you don't need the economic activity, feel free to buy him out... And that gives him more right to make him opinions heard than someone who doesn't have millions of pounds*? And what about the economic activity involved in the wind farm? The investment in Scottish energy companies isn't important? * In reality, yes. Money does buys influence. But the right, democratically and morally? Why don't you ask Ted Turner his opinion on that.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun

In actual fact, that's how it works everywhere. Look at the rock stars that moved their offices to the continent over taxes. Look at the economies in Spain and elsewhere. Look at the industries setting up in China and India. As for the opinion thing. " Looks like you've become a lefty! I never said Jakee didn't get to have an opinion on windmills. But so does Trump. And so do you. And so do I. If I'm not involved in britain, obviously the politicians there will probably not pay much attention to me, however, if I'm willing to invest a large amount of money there, they may. If I'm willing to invest and they don't consider my opinion, it is my right to withdraw my investment, subject to whatever penalty or escape clauses which may have been in the contract. I repeat, I never said Jakee didn't have a right to an opinion. But his is one of many.If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead. You did make quite clear though that to you righties, no-one is allowed to have an opinion unless they can pay for it. Which is a pretty nasty way of thinking, really.Do you want to have an ideagasm?
