So basically the thread isn't about Rape and what can be done to help women get the help they need or find ways to try and lessen or stop this disgusting act. It's just another thread for one party to throw mud at the other party and thats what we focus on. I say this I am a Republican but I would be willing to work with anyone in order for this issue to get the attention it needs and to move forward. I don't give a crap if they're a Democrat or a member of the Purple Peacock party. Its not about a certain Political Party! Go back and look at each comment and see if its just a lets trash each other and each others political party or if its a discussion about what can be done. Come on we're better then this!!!

It defies any sort of reason. We saw the polling before the VP selection, and the polling and results after.

It was covered pretty well in the HBO documentary - McCain's camp knew they were losing and could either just lose, or take a gamble. She was the gamble. She worked great for the voter base that would never vote for Obama...she may have kept some of them from staying home on election day. But the hope that she would appeal to the moderate undecideds or women fell apart when it was clear how unqualified she was.

You do have to acknowledge that the dems will turn up the media and smearing machinery to full if the reps step off of the dems image of who 'properly' is 'owned' by them. Had the reps put up a very extremely suitable candidate, female or minority, it wouldn't have mattered. You know that too.

It's personal destruction nowadays to even verbalize a desire to run for high office in either party. You have to be a fool to do it - the proof is out there with at least 4 still living that succeeded and dozens of others that got names on ballots .....


'We' (the public) all want good candidates to pick from. But the parties absolutely don't want the other guys to put them up and they'll do anything they can to keep the public from having 2 good choices. Therefore, we don't get 1 good choice either. Default is 0 good choices.

Sorry, not buying it. The first coverage I saw of Palin was Tina Fey mocking the Couric interview. I presumed they were having fun at her expense. But when I saw the actual interview, it was clear that Fey wasn't mocking, she was reenacting.

The extreme polarization of American politics is nearing the end of its useful life. Barring a significant third party candidate, I suspect the winner of the next Presidential election will be the more moderate of the two "real" candidates.

Society hasn't come far enough to deal with babies that were conceived as a result of a rape. Crud, it hasn't come far enough not to use the topic of rape as a platform to trash a certain political party. It's sad really. We still judge women that conceive and carry outside of wedlock then add to that if the baby was conceived as a result of rape? How dare she consider carrying that baby to term or heaven forbid how dare she be able to separate the baby from the disgusting act and actually care and bond with it. How many people even those close to the woman would not be able to accept that baby. How many partners couldn't handle it themselves. I've seen some supposedly very intelligent people that were unable to separate an innocent baby from a disgusting act. Yeah, we have LONG ways to go.

Losing is a pretty good motivator to knock that shit off. The GOP was looking for a winner in 2000 (they kicked McCain pretty hard for screwing with a legacy Bush) and I think that will be true in 2016 as well. (unfortunately for Jeb, the Bush name now isn't what it used to be)

The Tea Party was pretty much dead by the aftermath of the 2010 election. Romney already did his big shift to the right, but it can be argued that was as much to fight his Massachusetts history as anything else. The midterm election will be another indication of the TP's remaining influence.
