Nope. Unfortunately the subtle stuff is a lot harder to deal with because, well, it's subtle. It's not like there's a nation-wide conspiracy; it's millions of people acting as individuals each playing their own "game" of what works best for them. It's only the combined sum that you can actually point at and say, "well, that's total shit."

It's the reason fair housing and other laws need to stay intact too. Without them, it would be less subtle.

There's no doubt that there is still an active bias by a small percentage of the people in the industry. But there's a huge difference between 30% or 50% fewer options (1 instead of 2, 2 instead of 3) and 10-15%. which sounds to me that that for 4 of 5 people, they got the same options, and the 5th got the 1 instead of 2 treatment.

The article struggles to maintain a consistent message about how significant it is, varying between calling it substantial and seeing it for what it really is.

Maintain the laws and protections, keep doing periodic examination, and wait for the racists to die out.

Is this renting or buying?

What I take from this is one of two things:

1 - real estate agents have some odd biases or;
2 - relatively speaking, whites aren't very good at defining what they need so they get spammed with a lot more showings

of course, this is based on my personal bias that real estate agents really don't care who they take their commissions from - and that they are terrible drivers

It is a difficult subject, one that got some press here in Canada last year.

Somebody got in trouble for posting an add looking for a female roommate. It was deemed to be an Ontario Human Rights violation since it established discrimination based on sex/gender.

they sent people with identical profiles and back stories, so this shouldn't be an explanation. You're left with true discrimination, and a harder to specify level of more subconscious bias (ie, a little white woman versus a 6' rastafarian).

My experience in the social services field in the Tampa Bay Area leads me to the conclusion that Blacks fair much better than Whites in the public housing awards. They know how to work the system and Blacks are the managers within the system.

Latinos lack the system knowledge necessary. They end up with church ministry assistance. However, Hispanics, i.e., Puerto Ricans due well within the system if they deal with white managers.

However, the best system player I ever met was a white Vietnam veteran. The last I heard he and his wife were in a three bedroom, two bath home outside of Denver subsidized by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Plus, that paid him a stipend to perform some service to other Indians. This income in addition to his 100% VA disability and Social Security Disability Income.

Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
