You implicitly supported the Patriot Act right up until it came back and bit you in the arse. WTF did you expect? Lots of us ARE on record against it. But not you nor gravitymaster. Your whining now smacks of hypocrisy.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

mistercwood 287 #36 June 11, 2013 rushmc Then by your logic as exampled here, if this program continues and a republican is voted president next term, he can extend the program even more and it will be Obama's fault In a rare instance, we agree. Bush set precedent (as is implicit in the role), Obama has run with it and set his own. It's already pretty damn scary. The really scary part is waiting to see what the next guy* does with that precedent when they get to play... *regardless of party - what the last guy got away with sets the stage for the new guy.You are playing chicken with a planet - you can't dodge and planets don't blink. rushmc 23 #37 June 11, 2013 *regardless of party - what the last guy got away with sets the stage for the new guy. Ya And it has got to end somewhere an interesting argument in favor of this is being made by those who supported the patriot act They are saying that when put in place the left cried about the wireless wire taps so, all NSA activities were put under FISA. Now, since a judge gave them the warrent, this is all legal Wow"America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Gravitymaster 0 #38 June 11, 2013 mistercwood *regardless of party - what the last guy got away with sets the stage for the new guy. Correct. Here's where it got started. Note the date, before Bush was elected. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Able_Danger
mistercwood 287 #39 June 11, 2013 It got started, arguably, when the office was created. Don't fixate on the actor and lose sight of the act - this should be about fixing the issue, not fixing the blame. You are playing chicken with a planet - you can't dodge and planets don't blink. Gravitymaster 0 #40 June 11, 2013 Then don't say "Bush set the precedent". It was set before Bush became President.
mistercwood 287 #41 June 11, 2013 Fair call. I was in this instance tying the warrantless wiretaps to the Patriot Act in turn to the NDAA and now the latest shit. But you're correct, overall it does boil down to what the last guy got away with setting the stage for what the next guy gets away with. You are playing chicken with a planet - you can't dodge and planets don't blink. It is not mentioned in either of the articles. They are about departments of the US government including some that were around before the Patriot acting like general aviation pilots are an enemy and doing things the US constitution supposedly says they cannot do. This concerns me as a jumper, not whether Bush and the Republicns or Obama and the Democrats are the worse facists. Jan
