But advocates for military-rape survivors vilify the video — and the philosophy behind it — as “a waste of taxpayer dollars,” an “affront to victims of sexual assault” and a tool “of limited value.”

promise5 17 #3 April 11, 2013 In reading the article it seems to be a multiple choice type of "game" video, what ever and then shows them what could or would happen depending on the choice they made. I don't see the big deal,if it gets people to think and hopefully step in to prevent an assault then fine what's the big deal. Whatever works to bring awareness to this issue and hopefully stop an assault I support! No matter how slowly you say oranges it never sounds like gullible. Believe me I tried. Quote http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/04/08/17658388-defense-secretary-hagel-demands-rape-reform-in-military?lite Defense Secretary Hagel demands rape reform in military By Bill Briggs, Jim Miklaszewski and Courtney Kube, NBC News Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel on Monday cracked down on generals who now possess the power to overturn sex assault sentences, ordering the first substantive shift of his tenure in how the military handles rape convictions in the ranks. ... The decision follows a firestorm ignited last month when Air Force Lt. General Craig Franklin overturned the sex-assault conviction of Air Force Lt. Col. James Wilkerson, an F-16 combat pilot. Wilkerson was court martialed and convicted by a military jury in the assault of a civilian woman at the U.S. Air Base in Aviano, Italy. He was sentenced to one year in the brig and booted from the Air Force. But using current UCMJ laws, Franklin reversed that jury's ruling for apparent lack of evidence. Wilkerson was subsequently released from jail, reinstated and assigned to a staff job at an Arizona air base. ... Hagel directed the Pentagon's General Counsel to strip the authority of commanding generals to void military court convictions. The Pentagon must seek fresh Congressional legislation to rewrite a section of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) to make the planned change legal. The highlighted part of the quote means that ultimately the final say enacting this change will be in the hands of Congress (subject, I suppose, to final signature of legislation by the President). Time to write to your Congress-humans and Senators, people. Let's watch what they do on this.

If he's smart, then he'll figure out that you are upset when you fling feces at him. Smart people understand the symbolism and depth of this type of protected Speech. I find it much more effective than a weird haircut or funny t-shirt. Nearly as effective as topless demonstrations - which we seem to be having a shortage of. TriGirl 349 #14 April 13, 2013 The only problem I have with this training (and many other forms of our training on this topic) is that it still fails to identify other forms of sexual assault. It IS a crime of violence/control/power, and these sorts of predatory scenarios certainly qualify. However, by not addressing other forms of sexual assault ("tea bagging" your buddy while he's passed out or restrained, is one example that comes to mind), the training inadvertently condones or does not classify those behaviors as also criminal sexual assault. Otherwise, yes, you need to "mix it up." This video training is not the end-all, be-all, but it's another option available to leaders.
