Detroit EFM seems to have trouble with his own finances

“I just view it as that’s not something he was aware of,” Snyder said. “Those things can happen where you had a nanny helping you in your house, you took care of part of the issues and your accountant missed something. And you just go get it taken care of and move ahead.”

C'mon. Liens on your property don't just happen and certainly aren't anything that could be 'overlooked'. Shameless bald faced lying politicians. Detroit gets more of what it deserves.
Please don't dent the planet.

Have you ever been through this kind of tax issue?

I know a couple of situations where accounts were seized and drained (resulting in overdraft situations) and liens filed with minimal notice.
I know of another where the notice got misplaced in a big stack of mail and the first time the person realized it was when the bank called and told him that the IRS had cleaned out his bank account.

They were due to sloppy bookkeeping and failure to pay taxes properly. Clearly the fault of the person not the tax agency.

But in every case it went from a mailed notice to liens and seizures very quickly.

Two liens totaling $16,432.58 from 2009 and 2010 were listed as paid; Orr’s recent payments were on two additional liens that records show totaled $15,797.68 from 2011 and 2012.

You can believe what you want. I see another Dem ala Geitner who thinks the rules don't apply.

Sounds like MD wanted unemployment insurance on home workers that were either, undocumented, or improperly compensated as contractors and the state disagreed with that.

It sounds like he is on the same moral footing as 95% of the drop zones in the skydiving industry!

What I want to know is how much he is paying Consuela the nanny, that he managed to get an assessment for 15k worth of unpaid state unemployment insurance.
