What this ruling does mean is that the fellow student from Singapore who sold me textbooks purchased in his home country, is no longer a "criminal". The books were identical to the ones sold on campus, but in paperback form, at a fraction of the cost.

The SCOTUS merely interpreted a statute.

Meaning that some aggressive lobbying can cause legislation to supersede the ruling by passing a new statute.
