I have boycotted Citgo since shortly after Chavez took over the oil industry. For that matter I also refuse to buy Exxon or BP gas. I know it doesn't really make a difference but it's my own personal standard. That was right around the time we were spitting-out our 2 kids. Guess how much success the average American has buying kids' stuff without buying anything made in China. Yeah, hard to avoid buying Chinese made toys. Not much I can do about that. There are plenty of choices as far as gas purchases go. At least I can sleep at night. freethefly 6 #22 March 6, 2013 QuoteYeah I know.... but they are our allies.... sort of. Iran was an ally. Then they weren't. Iraq was an ally. Then they weren't. Now they are, for the time being. Same with Afghanistan. Doesn't make it right. But, hey if I need gas to get down the road, I don't give a damn where it came from. Besides, crude from around the globe are mixed at the refineries as oil is bought on the open market from a number of countries. Doesn't really matter where you get if from."...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." If only every consumer could do like you. I can certainly understand the thinking. Problem is that BP and Exxon don’t get hurt a bit. Not at all. The gas stations are all franchises with the label, so it hurts the gas station owner and its employees. This is because oil is fungible. Gasoline is fungible. Crude gets mixed together from different sources when it is sent to the refinery. The refinery puts out fuel that gets bought and sold by different companies. So BP’s franchises demand 10 million fewer gallons of 87 octane per day because they’ve been boycotted and now Chevron and Shell need an extra 10 million gallons? BP sells it to them. You've got BP and Exxon fuel in your tank. My wife is hotter than your wife.
BillyVance 35 #25 March 8, 2013 I don't remember where I said it, I thought I did in this thread... but I wondered if Venezuela was going to encase Hugo Chavez in glass and put him on display like Russia did with Lenin... Turns out I was right! The body will remain there for a week and then go on permanent display at a military museum." http://worldnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/03/08/17234923-dramatic-exit-heads-of-state-gather-for-hugo-chavezs-funeral?lite "Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
