Tikka T3

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Does any of you own or have any experience with Tikka T3's in .223? How did you find it and which variant? i.e.: Tactical, Varmint etc. I'm considering either the Tactical or Varmint but am wondering if there is a big difference between them apart from cost (basically is it worth paying the extra cash). I looked at a Remington 700 but the VTR failed to impress, the SPS looked good but the stocks are pretty poor and with a bipod they touch the barrel. So I'd end up changing the stock (most likely for a AICS). The Tikka T3 seem to have the edge to me. Any thoughts? (Also considering the Savage Mk12)

I just went through this process. Look at Savage 10 223. Best bang for the buck and they come with weaver base mounts installed. They have large bolt handle and you can get them in camo, brush or mossy oak. They also have the accu-trigger. I've had rem sps, varmint, not impressed as much as savage imho.

Tikkas are pretty popular in OZ, i would go the varmint over the tactical if I had a choice, more money for not much extra value

Some people complain about the plastic mag, trigger guard etc

The tactical uses the Sako TRG barrel as I understand and has the pic rail, threaded barrel

Thanks Strife, yes I am thinking about going for the Varmint and changing the stock for a Roedale Chassis System if I didn't get along with the manufacturers furniture (Which would also allow me to change to AICS mags).
