The Scout's motto is simply "Be prepared", which makes the comment even more strange.

(They do have an Oath, Law, Slogan and Code as well though, so it's easy to get confused. But yeah, none of them say "Must not like the cock".)

I think I've answered your question. I don't care if the club wants to exclude people due to race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, social status, or size of the big toe. I think they will lose out on many valuable members, but that is their call. I don't know why people who don't meet the criteria want to waste their time trying to get in.

Yes, it is a few more years down the line...critical years. Today's world is so much more accepting of so many things. Comparing homosexuality today with racism of the 50's is apples and oranges.

I think you've taken the teaching point in a different direction, but I can't see what was written before and I can't recall what it was about at this point. I'll go back and check it.

You haven't, and I believe I have been quite clear in what I am asking. Would you be critical of people saying "You should let black people in" in the same way you are critical of someone who says "you should let gay people in"? That is the question. Would you say to someone criticising a racist organisation that they're just as bad as the racists?

Ya know, many of us are in violent agreement -- the BSA are out of synch in not accepting gay members or leaders. Much of the disagreement is about whether anyone should protest this.

Anyone can protest any damn thing they want to. I could even protest the Catholics' having a Pope (and that he's nearly always male) if I wanted to.

What Pops said was "Protestors are crybaby's".
