This probably holds in urban areas for candidates with low NRA-ILA rankings. 2. Politicians are elite pigs (while all animals are equal, some are more equal than others) who want to limit firearms availability to people outside the ruling class. 3. It makes ignorant people feel good.

DUI laws don't stop all drunk driving, but they certainly reduce accidents.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. DUI laws don't stop all drunk driving, but they certainly reduce accidents. But how do you know this? How long has drinking and driving been illegal and what are the stats before and after? (I honestly don't know that it was ever "legal", but ALL guns were legal at one point) Drug laws don't stop drugs from being readily available, even the controlled substances via prescriptions. Hell, I work in the car business, I'd be willing to bet you a month's pay I can get my hands on almost any drug you could name inside an hour. Laws don't stop the determined criminal or the one that simply doesn't care of the consequences. They also don't stop the psychotically imbalanced (crazy) people. The kicker with all of this is that none of my examples (or your DUI example) are protected under the Constitution on which this country was founded. Keeping arms is protected. In every man's life he will be allotted one good woman and one good dog. That's all you get, so appreciate them while the time you have with them lasts. - RiggerLee
