I wasn't before this but I am now a member of the NRA and they did send out an email with a link to a video of Wayne LaPierre's very public speech, but it's no more then we see in the news. Also some other emails asking for donations to fight the upcoming proposed bill by Dianne Feinstein. It's nothing special or arm bending.

The "no-blame falls on the NRA" email should read something like:

Dear Valued NRA member,

I am sure you have heard about the proposed legislation banning 30 round magazines and w.e else. Rest assured, fellow gun supporters control enough seats in both houses of congress, and our lobby is much too strong, to allow any legislation like this to be passed.

Your guns are safe with us behind you.

Receiving a letter like THAT would make me VERY happy and I could rest at ease knowing that the gooberment hasn't yet found the means of destroying the 2nd.

God forbid we should have an organization like that for EACH of the amendments.

You know what I've never heard anyone complain about the likelihood of the Third Amendment being violated. We definitely need to get a fear-based organization up and running to fight that.
