millertime24 8 #1 January 27, 2013 And I must say I'm rather pissed about the amount of hysteria our administration has caused. $100 for 500 .224 55gr bullets is insane. As is $75 for a damn magazine. Granted I've got quite a bit of ammo and mags for my black guns, but I try to keep a certain surplus and still be able to go to the range and punch some holes in paper to maintain my shooting skills. Also, .22lR is damn near impossible to get. Why? I get the run on 223 and 7.62x39, but .22?Muff #5048
masterrig 1 #2 January 27, 2013 Due to the fear of losing our guns to this government, people are taking advantage of that fear and charging what they can get. Kinda' like 'fuel shortages'. Two weeks ago, I bought a couple boxes of 30.06, 180-grain for $22.95 each. That was at our local hardware store. I don't buy at gun shows unless, it's a really good deal. baronn 111 #6 January 27, 2013 The NRA? Just how do you figure that has anything to do with this? Clearly you've been living in a cave. The NRA has been campaigning to KEEP the current laws the way they are. The Liberals are trying to outlaw "Assault" weapons, high capacity magazines and eventually, all guns. A little lesson here, when the government tries to outlaw something, the price for those items go up. When they stay available and have a free market control the price, it will vary by demand and supply. Simple huh? Until recently, market dictated price. Now, with possible banning looming, hysteria over NOT being available is taking over.
millertime24 8 #7 January 27, 2013 Funny. I actually got a really "good deal" on a Springfield XD 45 Tactical 3 days ago. $425 is what I gave (and that was in an office at work not a gun show). I remember when you could get a brick of .22lR for about $11 now it's running $45. Damn shame if you ask me.Muff #5048
quade 4 #8 January 27, 2013 Bwahahaha... Oh my god. The NRA has been playing the gun owners like violins for decades. They work hand in glove to drive up gun sales through the fear of them being taken away. The suckers react to the fear every time. Consider the run on guns before Obama even took office. There was absolutely no threat whatsoever of him addressing guns during his first term. NONE. In fact, he allowed relaxations of laws to pass. Yet there was Wayne screaming like a little baby about to get his lollypop taken away. People ran out and bought everything in sight. Here we go again.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

Then why was I able to buy an AR 15 7 years ago for $600 and now the same AR is over $1500? If the NRA wanted to drive up prices then why wait till now?Muff #5048

masterrig 1 #12 January 27, 2013 Not too shabby! I bought a box of 525-rounds of .22 LR-HP for $40.00. The store I deal with does not try gouge people and keeps their prices reasonable on guns and ammo. Chuck

So whoever you blame for telling everyone to be afraid of the government taking their guns is who you should be mad at.
wmw999 2,589 #17 January 27, 2013 The demand is high because of perceived threat to the supply. It was high right after Obama was elected in 2008, and that turned out to be a perception and not actual supply problem. Very often "shortages" are more a function of word-of-mouth than anything else. Wendy P.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

That HAS to be the most ludicrous position you've ever put forth. The NRA did not stand on a podium and say, we're going to outlaw rifles, guns, magazines, ammunition, etc. It was Obama and Feinstein's mouth going that drove up the prices. In fact, who do you think drove 250,000 NEW members to the NRA in one month. I think the NRA is wishing there were no term limits.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
