livendive 8 #2 January 24, 2013 On the nuclear front, what are they doing that we haven't? We've tested missiles, and detonations, and been rather obvious in our distaste for their government. airdvr 210 #3 January 24, 2013 QuoteThe North's National Defense Commission said the moves would feed into an "upcoming all-out action" that would target the United States, "the sworn enemy of the Korean people." I think it's a bit different. They could easily have said they wanted nukes for defense. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

lawrocket 3 #6 January 24, 2013 What can we do? Really. What can we do? There are several things about NoKo that are unique. First – NoKo is a fifth world country. They don’t have resources, etc., so no oil or nothing to plunder. Second – they’ve got China as a tenuous ally, but that’s partially because China is worried about the place destabilizing and being stuck with ten million refugees coming across the Yalu River and China’s understanding that NoKo is nuts. Third – NoKo is nuts. Like, “we cannot comprehend how nuts these people are” nuts. Fourth – we can’t beat them with conventional warfare. NoKo has in excess of a million men at the 38th parallel and they are equipped. If we try to do something to NoKo, they could move across and they would take Seoul within 48 hours unless we nuked them or used some other form of non-conventional warfare, and I do not believe that the US has any real interest in using WMDs unless they were used first on us. So that’s the issue. What the hell CAN we do about NoKo? My wife is hotter than your wife.

lawrocket 3 #12 January 24, 2013 QuoteWhy is that anyones problem apart from Korea's? It’s like war with China. We are so intertwined economically that neither China nor the US can go to war. The world loses SoKo and the world loses a lot. It’ll cause an economic shock. It’ll be a strategic shock. And to allow such to occur would be a human rights crisis the likes of which we haven’t seen since WWII. My wife is hotter than your wife.

Andy9o8 2 #14 January 24, 2013 If the US went to war with China, Wal-Mart would crumble. Decreased white trash buying power would cause even more people in house trailers, causing more house trailers to spring up, causing increase in devastating tornados. And more methamphetamine. I think the USA would be the biggest loser (not including a nuclear war here) China has a very highly developed cyber attack capability, has the Microsoft source code and has been planting logic bombs in the USAs undefended public infrastructure systems for years. It also has enough US Dollars in its reserves to devalue the dollar at the flick of a switch. The China can unhitch its internet access very quickly and their currency is not as in demand as the dollar (and the USA isn't able to crash its value so easily.)When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. davjohns 1 #20 January 25, 2013 Sometimes, you just need to go all COWBOY on someone. They want to test missiles? Fine. We need to test interceptors. Park a few Aegis ships off their coast and shoot down whatever they send up. Everyone's happy, right? When they imprisoned the two American women for 25 years over being on the wrong side of the border, I had another cowboy solution. Send a former President to pick them up. Inform NK that the former President is coming. He will start at the border and walk to wherever the women are. The US military will clear the path in front of him. The path can be long or short depending on where NK deposits the women. If the former President has to walk through the ruins of Pyongyang to get to the women, so be it. Sometimes, you just have to call crazy what it is and react accordingly. When I was a cop, I used a tactic more than once with great success. I explained very rationally what I was going to do to someone if they failed to settle down. It involved very painful force. People who were deemed crazy by others were quite rational for me. We understood each other.I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
babz 0 #21 January 25, 2013 I think really the US and Western powers need to keep their noses out of this one.. it's not their fight. This is sabre wrattling to get a response from the USA - best bet. Ignore them public and make sure you've got reasonable defenses in place. Pyongyang knows that the USA wouldn't stand for a Nuke heading their way without them really becoming an enemy. I think this is the best to let the Chinese deal with the North Korean's, as I'm sure that China doesn't want a Nuclear armed regime with a short man syndrome on their doorstep.
