Another prime example of why college classrooms should be mandatory carry areas.

Someone woulda Chuck Norrissed those dudes way before 3 people got shot for sure if it was mandatory they had their guns with them.

Not the best example. What if one of the guys was an undercover cop? What if one or more of the students ccing responded, which guy do you shoot? What is people responding were even worse shots and more people got hit in the cross fire?

I think that falls under "Kill 'em all and let God sort them out". Also "Freedom is not free" and "Can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs".

This was an argument between two men. One pulled out a gun concealed in his chlothing and started shooting the other person.

Oh, seems contrary to the common wisdom around here that concealed weapons stop crime.

Another straw man argument. Currently it's illegal to carry concealed on college campuses.

There is no federal law banning guns on college campuses. It's a matter of state law. AFAIK, about 5 states do allow colleges to permit guns on campus if they so choose, and a few colleges do allow it.

I didn't see mention they were gang members. What makes you think that? Even more reason to keep the non gang members armed at all times!
Lets just sayin certain parts of H-town, wearing a red shirt & a Falcons hat has nothing to do with being a fan of Atlanta's team. Kinda like all the young men around here with the Astro's 'Star' logo tattooed prominently....they ain't hardcore baseball fans...and you most definitely won't see THEM with a Falcons hat!

Are you talking about these gangs?

Yup. I just learned something new....
The Astro's fans are the "Houstone Tango Blast"
Can't figure out the Falcons fans, but I'm pretty sure they are some derivative of the bloods.

'Set trippin' at a community college...go figure. :D:D:D

"That's annoying," said Sanders, president of the Second Amendment Academy, a student group that plans shooting events in the area.

Yep, sure must be annoying to get shot.

The sad thing is, I think most of the people who responded to this thought I was serious.

It's not exactly inconsistent with what others have said.

Hence the sadness.

"He said, 'I don't want to fight you, I'm not trying to go to jail," said a student who witnessed the argument and shooting.
She said the gunman initially walked away, but then changed his mind.
The shooting led to a campus lockdown and two-hour search for the gunman who got away. Several nearby Aldine ISD schools were also put on lockdown as a precaution.
A law enforcement source said the gunman shot the man he was arguing with, then accidentally shot himself in the buttocks

It sure would be nice if there was national outrage over this shooting, seeing how it's pretty representitive of the majority of gun violence in this country. Something tells me its not going to be much more than a footnote.....hmmm I wonder why that is? :S

Trust me, Tango Blast has much more on their minds than baseball. Search them on the net, it'll raise the hair on the back of your neck. They aren't just in Texas, either.

In my first week in az there was a beheading and a couple people found shot up in an abandonded car not far at all from where I was living. It caused me to be a bit more aware of the gang/cartel activity in the border states. I'm generally desensitized at this point.[:/] I'm just happy it's not my day to day experience like it is for so many.

So far, we haven't had any be-headings but we do get a lot of drug traffic. Border Patrol is all-over this country. While working cattle, we have found large bundles of weed. We just flag down an Agent and point it out and it's theirs from there. I've almost trampled illegals hiding in the brush. I make like I didn't notice and point him out to the first Agent who passes. I've had illegals ask if I had work for them! It's nuts!

I got a quick edumication a while back from a guy my kid was rooming with when he was getting his A&P rating...

I often wear a black baseball cap with gold 'Liberty Parachute Team' lettering. . .my kids roomie said lose it when visiting down there.

I think he said it may designate Latin Kings, which my kids roommate 'use to claim' - their apartment down by Hobby airport was in Tango Blast.

Farther east a mile or so is one of many Houstone sets.

The red shirt - one of several local gangs not necessarily bloods...& the falcon hat IIFC designates a certain neighborhood which (again IIRC) is pretty close to where that campus is located, maybe a couple miles on the same Ave.

Down here several gangs have intermingled to become stronger, ya see a lotta people sporting 'Crip Crown' tats and Hispanic set colors - enemies a few years ago.

The gangs in Houston are a bit different than other big cities, very well organized and extremely well funded being this close to the boarder...something the gangs of New Orleans found out pretty quick when they were displaced to here by the hurricane.

For a while there I think the cops just turned a blind eye and let 'nature take it's course'...it got pretty rough.

WHICH brings me to my point - LOTTA gangs here, LOTTA LOTTA shootings.

I'm guessing the 'school' thing is what brought this to national attention. Not saying it's right or wrong but strikes me weird it went national that quick...nobody died, just some kids having fun.

Last night a young family man noticed two 'thugs' following him for a while, turning into his subdivision then onto his street, he jammed into his driveway as the two bad guys attempted to catch him...family guy makes it to the house and slams & locks the front door.

Bad guys fire several shots through the front door killing him dead...as his family watched.

THAT stuff never goes national?

Tango Blast

Sounds like a caffeinated orange soda. Is it good?

If you ain't Blastin' ~ you ain't Lastin'

It's a pretty 'serious' group of individuals, especially in the Texas prison system. It's rumored there are a number of correctional officers that 'Be Blastin' undercover...groomed by the gang to enter than career field. Like I said...well organized! :S
